View Full Version : Passing training
Does anyone do passing as a primary training ?
I have trained PM for my first few seasons, now, I am on my 2nd season of defense training and am really contemplating passing training for my future batch.
I am interested in seeing the monetary aspects of this. If someone has info. Thanks to share.

I trained passing for 2.5 seasons.
Keep in mind that unless you have already maxed out your team, training passing takes a LOT of money. The money problems are not in your A team but in your B team because you are putting 10-15mil into your B team trainees that 1) aren't as good as your A team players, so you don't perform as well in cup b/c of need to play 8 trainees and 2) You now don't perform as well in league because all your extra money that could have bought you that extra 1-2 starting studs is not there.
So, depending on your current situation, how much you have to invest, how important promotion is, etc, etc, etc. is to you, these are things I would consider.
I must say that I am glad I trained it, but HT sucked during that time because I wasn't playing as well as I would have liked and teams that I always beat, would beat me. My $0.02

I of course imagine I would have to buy already high B teamers so that they gain nice value when reselling them. The biggest pb I see is taking care of not having a too high wage-roll.
And I don't have a maxed out team yet, but I will soon have one.
Keeper is SN+5 with high XP
Defense : I train (already brilliants-mags)
Middie : ET, ET, Titanic, Titanic
Wing : none now, I mistakenly sold my titanic whil wanting to sell a forward
FW : ET, WC, Brlliiant
So basically, once I have upgraded my wnger back (3.5M), another Forward (Titanic or ET), maybe keeper (not sure there), I'll have maxed out, so I only have option of training : winger, set pieces or passing which sounds the most fun.
By the time I switch, I plan to have around 10-15M indeed.
My question now is : what kind of trainees should I then be looking for. What formations should I be playing ?
When traing passing, there are now 2 options : through passes when playing a defensive formation (4-5-1 or 5-4-1) and short passes for playing an offensive foramtion (2-5-3 - 3-4-3).
Etc, etc, see, it really is making my interest grow again on the game ;)

I'm training passing right now.
Why would you put 10-15 million in your b-team trainee's?? Thats insane. Actually, putting 10-15 million in your b-team trainee's will end up hurting you in the long run since your paying much higher wages each week with those kind of trainee's.
After reading through the passing training fed ALOT and talking to quite a few passing trainers, formidable/outstadning/ and maybe brilliant middies/forwards are the way to go. you'll make just about the same profit for all of them.
Heres examples..... For your b-teamers, the best way to make money seems to be buying guys with weak passing, training them to passable and then selling them.
Say you buy five 20 year old formidable middies(2 you can use as wingers) and three 20 year old formidable forwards all with weak passing. You will pay at best around 450k and at most you'll pay 500k(you really shouldn't go any higher then that). (2-5-3 formation of course)
Now considering they are all the lowest level of weak passing possible, they should take about 13-14 weeks to get to passable passing(alot of the time guys will already be halfway to inadquate passing). Now selling these guys at passable should get you between 950-1.05 million per trainee. So after fees and stuff you should make between 425-475k per trainee. We'll say 450k for the sake of arguement. 8 x 450k is 3.6 million.
So 3.6 million per year for your b-team trainee's. Now keep in mind that they will probally all miss 3-5 weeks of training if you plan on making a good cup run. But also keep in mind that some of them will bump early since some will be closer to inadequte passing when you buy them. If you factor both those in, i'd say its probally more like 3.6 million per 1.2 seasons just to be on the safe side. And thats just for your trainee's, you can make alot of profit with your higher end starters if you wanna sell them. But i think the point to passing training is building up your starters so your wages are a hell of alot cheaper, and at the same time making a decent profit off your trainee's.
Im not sure passing training should be something you train forever(just my opinion), its good to do like 2-3 seasons at a time. And i also think its only good for higher level teams so you can get 3 awsome middies and 2 awsome forwards, then make them ever better with great passing, then keeping them for a long time.
My advice would be for you to make your front 7 all VERY VERY good players, all no older then 23 or 24, and with at least weak passing(could be better if you have the money).
Your in like DIv.III i believe so you wanna get like 3 french ET thru magical middies with at least weak passing, 2 higher end wingers(or 1 high end winger and 1 WTM) and 2 very good forwards. Maybe a couple french Titanic forwards with weak/inad passing.
If you do that, and train passing for 3 seasons, you'll have a SICK ass attack for cheap. Other guys will literally be paying double(or more) in wages then what you pay for the same attack.
A good example of a team that trained passing at one time is....
Team Dank - in a 3-5-2 with a balanced coach, he gets between a utopian/divine central attack and his forwards wages are 40k TOTAL.
Or of course Hobbes team..... He gets a divine central attack and his wages for his forwards are like 50k total.
Thanks Havok, going with "lower" trainee does also help on lowering the overall wage-roll. Does anyone on the passing fed train passes using the defensive formations ?
And also, I assume you play 343 or 352 on league/cup games and 253 on friendlies ? I am still at least 2 seasons from doing anything else than defense, but this "different" type of training seems very attractive for the things you mention (powerful attack with cheap payroll)
dola : I just applied to the Passing Fed

Not sure about guys training pasing in defensive formations. Its really not a very active fed compared to the winger fed for example. But it does have a few good threads where guys break down what they bought a guy for, how long they trained him, and how much they sold him for. And of course, everyone is training passing so you just look for the higher level passing training teams and ask them questions :)
I play a 3-5-2 in league games and a 2-5-3 in friendlies, im still learning myself since i've only just finished my 8th week of passing training. The good news is i had my first trainee hit passable passing :) So in just 8 weeks he's gonna make me over 400k, i likey! Kinda funny since i still have a couple trainee's who havn't bump once! But thats because they sat out 2 - 3 weeks during the cup.
When you start training passing in 2 seasons,(if you decide to do it) i should be getting close to finishing up. So you can pick my brain then all you want :)
Thanks Havok. seems the money is definitely not on the defenders but on the wingers, inners and forwards for guys with passing. I'll be sure to get back to you in 2 season (around Christmas 2006 :) )
