We Got "The Call" (Adoption Referral)

We got "The Call" !!!
My wife and I have been waiting for a referral from Russia. We just got an invitation to travel to Russia and meet our child. I could hardly speak when I heard the news. We are so excited.

We don't know ANYTHING. Age, sex, medical condition, orphange... nothing. But in a couple of weeks we will meet our new baby. We won't be able to bring him/her home, however, because Russia requires 2 trips. One to accept the child and then another to bring them home.

We have a day and a half in Moscow for sightseeing so if anyone has any hotel recomendations or things to do/see, I'd like to hear them.

"Interesting experience" is one way to put it. By far the hardest thing I have done (or ever will do) in my life. But at the end... oh, so worth it.

Good luck. The two trips part is one of the reasons my wife and I chose China over Russia. It seems like a very difficult process. What's the time in between trips?

I know how excited you must be. We'll have to share pictures when we both get our children.

Franklin: I can't help with the specifics of Russia, but if you want general foriegn adoption info let me know. There's a lot that is similar regardless of the country. I'd me more than happy to share what I know.

I've heard that you can get an advocate over there to appear in court for you and plea for a waiver of the second trip (folks in my church have adopted out of Russia). The orphanage there should know about it.

If you want, I can even put you in touch with some folks I know who are missionaries over there.
