During a typical dinner (not a day-long cookout), how many hot dogs do you normally put away? Just wondering if I'm in the minority on this one.

Three normally.
Four if I'm pretty much starving.

I get sick if I try to eat more than one hotdog for some reason. I top out at 1 and a half MAX.

I could give Kobayashi a run for his money.. ;)
Really, four would probably be max though I usually don't have more than a couple.

every Monday is "Dollar Night" at the local single-A baseball affiliate. One dollar Hebrew National hotdogs. I put back five of those fuckers one night last season.
This season I'm on a diet however, so I won't be eating any. :(

If there was no other Flesh To Consume, I would normally do 3. MAYBE 4 if I'm starving.

Depends. One of my favorite sayings at lunch in the Chow Hall when we had foot long hotdogs was "If you can't take all 12 inches at once, cut it in half."

Army hot dogs...the thought of that repulses me for some reason.

They were actually college hot dogs, but sort of same thing. :)

Two was my normal limit, but now I see myself eating 3. Was wondering if I was a total fatso - guess not :)

Usually 2. But It also depends on how good they are. If I bought some top shelf dogs, then we're talking 3 or maybe even 4.

I craved hot dogs when I was pregnant. I could eat three loaded with chili, cheese, onions and saurkraut in one sitting.
Now, I can't remember the last time I had one. Probably could only eat one of those puppies now.

Four chili dogs is my normal intake.
But mgadfly's quote reminded me of a story. Back when the movie "The Great Outdoors" with John Candy came out, I was watching it with my younger cousins. They were maybe 8 or 10 at the time. When the part came on with the talking raccoons going through the trash, one of the 'coons was happy to find a half eaten hot dog. One of them says "You know what hot dogs are made of, don't you? Lips and assholes!". So one my cousins, of course, asks if this is true. In Jack Handey fashion I reply, "Of course, why do you think the ends of the hot dogs look the way they do."
:D
3 is routine, 4 is common, 5 not unheard of. Never tried 6.

Last time I actually tried to see how many I could eat I had 8 before they cut me off (all with bun and ketchup). That was also about 6-7 years ago (Funny thing is I was 50 pounds lighter then). (I was coaching and one of my linemen thought he could outeat me, he lost.) :p
At a cookout assuming there aren't any hamburgers available probably 4 or so, but that also comes with eating the other stuff available.

I did 6 once and regretted it....rarely ever eat them now, but when I do I get through 3 or 4 fairly easy.

Two. I can't eat a whole lot of food in one sitting (except steak and sometimes ribs), so I usually have about 5 small meals in a day.

2 with bun........3 without bun.....Mac'n cheese with hot dogs is the shiznit.

everyone will have to forgive lathum a bit...his view of the world is slightly limited...he doesnt eat meat and thinks miller lite is good beer.
he also cant spell very well, but he is an awesome poker player, so he does have one redeeming quality.

Two.
I usually have two as well. And who are you?
I had 3 hotdogs and 2 burgers the last time we had a cookout. Just hotdogs, I'd guess 5 or 6 would be normal for me without forcing myself and over a couple hours, but I don't remember just eating hotdogs without having other options.

What he said, but only if I'm eating Velveeta Shells and Cheese with them. For some reason, I can only eat more than one hot dog if there are Velveeta Shells there.

Myself, I can put away 6 or 7 chilidogs.

Ketchup is the only thing I put on my hot dogs.
Greyroofoo
04-23-2006, 10:29 AM
normally its just the dog and the bun, when the dog is cooked well.
sometimes I'll use ketchup
I will eat hot dogs one of four ways only:
1) Hot dog and bun only
2) Add mustard
3) Add cheese
4) Add ketchup AND cheese
Note that things like ketchup only or mustard + cheese are not viable options.
I would consider relish as a topping for a hot dog, but I have never tried it. Everytime I see someone with a hot dog with relish I think it looks and smells good, so I would probably like it. Just never gotten around to it.

For the record - two dogs.
But I only had three left in the package, so I cooked them all and will be finishing off the third a few hours after lurnch.

It's all about ketchup and sweet relish... :)
But chili dogs rock as well. Make the chili a little spicy with some tobasco and add a ton of cheese...oh hell yeah!
