Does anyone have any recommendations for a good free e-mail client other than Thunderbird? Or any to avoid, for that matter?

Nothing - I'm using it and like it. I have a home business, though, and want to keep the business e-mail completely separate from my personal e-mail, and I had been doing that by using Outlook (a very old version) for business. And it stopped downloading my e-mails yesterday. I had the same problem with Outlook on my old desktop computer last year, and nothing seemed to fix the problem.
I had some concerns about using multiple accounts with Thunderbird, but I just set up the second account, and it seems to be working OK, so maybe that's all I'll need.

Yes, multiple accounts work fine for me. I have one for my personal email and one for school related email.

If you want to keep it seperate you probably want to make sure you're not using the global store for storing email. That way you can keep everything in different folders. You could also set up entirely different profiles to really keep it seperate.

Yes, I did that. Unfortunately, the day I set this up, Mozilla releases an update, and (at least from what I can tell on the support forums there), the autoupdater is screwed up, and now I'm not connecting to the server. Bastards! It appears I'm going to have to reinstall it.
