They've got a couple of movies I'm interested in, including one at a pretty substantial discount, but I've never ordered from them before.

Anybody here have any experience with them and any comments as to their reliability, etc?

I've ordered from them a couple times without issue. My father-in-law gets stuff from them pretty often and I don't think he's ever had problems either. I do remember several people pre-ordering a new game from them and it took a while to get (several days after release before they shipped if I remember correctly). Of course, that's happened to me before from a lot of places so that's not that unusual. As long as it's not a huge demand item that you need immediately, I wouldn't be afraid to order from them.

I was reading where they had some customer service issues, but after noticing that the items I wanted were listed as 'on order,' I called them and got a live person on the first ring.

I did notice, well after posting this thread, that Deep Discount DVD is offering free shipping. They're a smidge more expensive on the regular price item, but actually *cheaper* on the Bogart movie that dvdplanet had marked down by like 75%, so it ends up saving me about 50 cents overall, plus the free shipping. I'm probably going to end up going that way since I've used them before and know what to expect.

Well, I tried to order from deepdiscountdvd, but needed a password reminder. 48 hours later, I've still not received my password.

DVDPlanet, on the other hand, shipped my order within 12 hours of receiving it. We'll see if I get it, in what shape, etc etc, but right now, DVDPlanet is making deepdiscountdvd its bitch in all sorts of nasty ways.

Oh, and just to make things really fun, I have both emailed and received a response from a high school classmate I've not seen since 1999 or so since requesting my deepdiscountdvd password.

So, yeah. I've had one good experience with DDD and one absolutely shit-tastic experience with them. Guess which one is weighing more heavily right now?

I prefer DVDPlanet to DDD. DDD went in the shitter when they started outsourcing customer service.
