Will you PLEASE stop pulling up behind me, turning on your blue and red lights for a few seconds, as if to test them, and then turn them off, and drive on by. It is extremely disorienting.

Isn't that a warning that you may be speeding? I know the cops in Florida do that on occasion.

I never heard of that, and I wasn't speeding. On highways I stay right at the speed limit (not 5 or 10 miles over like some people) and put my car on cruise control.

The speed limit on the interstate in Colorado is 75, bitches. Eat my dust.
I live in Colorado and this actually happened to me the other day (around 136th & Colorado in Thornton). My wife immediately accused me of speeding, but I wasn't. I have no idea what the cop was doing...

The other day on the Fairfax County Parkway, I saw a cop sitting at a light and he didn't get a green light during his cycle for some reason so he just turned on his blue lights and ran the red in front of me. I think we all should have blue lights...:(

And, let me guess, you also like to drive in the left lane on the highway. I can see you now driving in the left lane with your right turn signal on all the way home.:p
God, I hate Goobers that insist on driving in the left lane everywhere they go.

Actually my habit is to always stay as far right as possible. I distinctly remember my drivers ed instructor telling me that radar gun readings were always lower in the right lane, because of something to do with trigonometry and vectors. I'm now pretty sure he was full of shit, but it's still my habit.

I don't find it difficult at all. Then again, when you have a car that sucks so bad that 55-60 is as fast as it will go without shaking like crazy, it tends to make that easier.
I can get it to 65 going downhill, though.

Speaking of goobers. Driving home today, traffic turning left onto Balboa was amazingly backed up. Through traffic was okay, it was the left turn lane that was backed up. As I get up to the light with one car in front of me, a pickup truck containing what I can only assume were illegal aliens zipped up the right side and turned left from a straight-ahead-only lane to cut off the car in front of me, which was in the process of making a LEGAL left turn.
The breathtaking stupidity didn't end there. They continued down Balboa - which is pretty brief on that particular stretch - in the right hand of two lanes, and cut off another vehicle turning left at the bottom of the hill, again from the far right lane cutting to the inside.
The difference? The first left turn, you either turn left or go straight. Turning left from that straight lane is illegal.
The second left turn, the left lane is left-turn only and turns into the inside lane. The right hand lane allows both left- and right-hand turns, and left-hand turns have their own lane. While the first cut-off was sort of understandable, if gooberish, there was really no good reason for the driver to cut off the person turning left at the second light, particularly since he had a legal left turn open to him.
Yes, I'm stereotyping with regards to the 'illegal alien' bit, but the occupants were Mexican, had lawn equipment in the back, and were driving with either reckless disregard for the rules of the road, or utter ignorance of them.
I will concede, however, that the possibility exists (however unlikely) that they may have been perfectly legal citizens with just a particularly high level of gooberishness.
However, considering I've been down that road too many times to count over the last half-decade and seen a ton of gooberish behavior that doesn't remotely compare to today's events - I'm going to go with 'illegal aliens' on that one. I mean, licensed California drivers are bad enough, but I've never seen them THAT bad.

Why not just tell the story, using the word "people" instead of "illegal aliens"??

Why not just tell the story, using the word "people" instead of "illegal aliens"??
a) That's what I believe them to be. What, I'm going to substitute another word so that people who are breaking the law don't get their feelings hurt?
b) I can occasionally be swayed on matters of political correctness. Not often, and not easily, and especially not when the term in question is purely political.
c) If I WERE to refrain from "illegal aliens," I'd have to call them dipshits, because that's how they were behaving. Either their behavior on the roads is directly derived from their legal status here (i.e., if they're illegal they can't get a license without breaking additional law), or they're driving in such a way as to know full well that they're breaking the law and just don't give a shit. Frankly, I think I'm actually being nice in what I'm calling them if that's the case.

I would have gone with dipshits. No reason to mention the "illegal aliens" part because it doesn't seem relevant to the story.
Balboa can really suck, at just about any point along it. I'm not surprised there are big traffic issues there (goobers aside).

Luckily I don't have an over-heating problem with this car. But it does stall a lot when I put the car in reverse (and sometimes when I just start it up). Takes a bit of time for me to back out of or into a parking space.
