What is the next 360 game I should get?
I was thinking Oblivion, but there's Fight Night 3, COD 2 (even though I have it on pc), and some others I'm sure are good.
Do tell..........

I recommend the following if you're not worried about exposing any kids.
Oblivion and Fight Night are good choices, Oblivion better than Fight Night.
Ghost Recon is second to Oblivion. Prey is fourth in this group.
Dead Rising is coming out on 8/8. It looks really good. Saint's Row is getting lots of good previews and it comes out on 8/29.

Dead Rising does look really good so far. I'll also recommend Hitman if you enjoy that genre at all.
If you like driving games, Burnout Revenge is quite fun and looks great.

Rent Hitman, as you can beat it pretty quick. It's neat.
I'm looking forward to obviously the next round of sports games. But two games I want this fall are Rainbow Six Vegas and Phantasy Star Universe.
Burnout Revenge is a cool game, but is a port of the Xbox/PS2 version.

I pre-ordered Dead Rising (I've always liked the Resident Evil/Silent Hill type games) and Viva Pinata (for the kids).

For current games, FN Round 3 gets my vote. For future games, I'd echo what others have said and get either Dead Rising or Saint's Row (in addition to Madden of course). There's nothing better than mowing down tons of zombies in a shopping mall full of weapons.

Mizzou - I've been playing the hell out of Lord of the Rings - Battle for Middle Earth II. At first I wasn't to thrilled about it but as I played it and got used to the controls I've really enjoyed it. You also can't go wrong with Ghost Recon. As for future games I'm looking forward to Madden 07!

You must be a gaming god or something. It took me ages just to get past the early level in the opera house. I would've had to rent the game several times just to get through three or four missions. I'm glad I bought it. :)

I'm confused .. I don't see reviews for games like Ninety Nights or Winning Eleven 9 on most XBox 360 sites .. is it coz they're Japanese? Is that why no one talks about them?
Eaglesfan27
07-26-2006, 09:28 AM
Winning Eleven 9 is only available for the regular Xbox in the states at least. I'm not sure about Ninety Nights. However, Winning Eleven 9 is BC, and is one of the games getting the most play on the 360 by me.
I agree with Pumpy about Hitman. Maybe, I'm just getting old or something, but I'm not that far into it, and each mission is taking me a while to figure out. Of course, I'm trying to do it with as little carnage as possible to get the best ratings.

Nah, honestly I'm pretty terrible at it. What I meant was is that you can beat it pretty quick...if you play for 2-3 hours a day :)
I'm actually one level away from the end, but then other games came out and I got distracted. I also can re-rent it over and over cuz it's free where I work, so that was a definite plus :)
99 Nights should be cool, as should several 360 games coming out this fall.

Just picked up a used copy of Oblivion tonight on the way home, which makes game #2 since purchasing my 360. -haven't heard from my friend so I bought it.
I love my hometown Gamestop. The manager will always remember me since the last time I was there, the store was empty and as soon as I arrived a short but powerful storm engulfed the area and as I was waiting for the rain to stop, I bought the Xbox 360 and NCAA 2007. The manager wrapped up everything nicely and told me to pull my truck up to the door and he'll run out and put my stuff on the passenger side. Very nice of him to do that.
Foward to today and he tells me to get the used copy for $5 off and he'll also give me the 10% discount without having one of those cards. Nice guy.
I also can't believe I pre-ordered NHL 07 while I was there, that's a first for any hockey game, but I like what I've seen so far and the control scheme alone warrants a purchase from me.
Hmmm... nobody's home either, time to get into this game as it's probably been since Bard's Tale since I've played a game in this genre.

I almost picked that one up as it was between Oblivion and GR. I'll rent GR over the weekend if I can though. Thanks.
It's great getting all this playing time out of my 360 and is my family's favorite console already. Kids love Pac Man, Frogger, Hexic, Bejewled - wife is the same and I've been busy with NCAA 2007, Oblivion and soon Madden 2007 and NHL 07.
It's so easy to use and I love that the arcade games on stored on HD, which really makes it easy for the kids and wife.

How far along are you at this point? How many total hours in gameplay do you think you can get out of it?
With the sports titles being disappointing to this point (I really not expecting miracles out of Madden - we always set ourselves up for disappointment), its nice to see a good RPG for the system. Hopefully the trend continues.

I think I'm at around 9 hours total, but I do have a 4 year old always wanting something. :)
I've only completed the first quest as I've been traveling all over the place checking everything out. This is a game I can see myself playing for quite some time, as it's really easy to load up and get an hour or two in here and there. Why sport games don't have in game saves baffles me.

The more I play Oblivion and now Dead Rising, the more I'm beginning to see the 360 might be more suited to these types of games for me instead of sports games. Outside of NHL 07, I think I'll have more fun playing FOF and BBCF than playing Madden and NCAA on a console.
I can live with games like Oblivion, Dead Rising, the Arcade games, etc.. as they take quite some time to complete and are really deep on the 360.

Agree 100%. There are 5 or 6 360 games that I'll strongly consider buying/receiving as a gift that come out by Christmas and only 3 of them are sports games (I love text sims, but despite their imperfections I still really like 3D action games such as NCAA which is still fun for me despite the flaws.)

I think I'm the exception here and I'm sure Madden will have me wanting to get it when it comes out as well. Games like FOF have such realistic stats and you can look at them so much easier and get through season after season much quicker. For some reason, hockey games are so much more fun to play on a console though.. go figure.
I'm also tired of adjusting sliders all the time, things you don't have to worry about as much with hockey and definitly not at all in adventure and racing games. NCAA isn't awful by any means, I would just rather put my $60 towards Dead Rising and games like that.
Who knows, Madden might be fun... but I'm waiting for reviews.

Madden is an automatic
Forza Motorsport 2
Call of Duty 3

and then of course the game I know will suck he life right out of me. . . NBA2K7.

9/26 - Just Cause*
9/2006 - 2 Days to Vegas

Enchanted arms is something that I'll wait to hear reviews on, but it definitely has me interested and is a likely buy at this point.

Unless I'm misremembering what was available on Xbox, Enchanted ARMs will very likely be the first good traditional RPG available for either Xbox console. I loved KOTOR and Jade Empire, but those were action/RPG titles.
If reviews are good I'll get Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance, if I were ranking my must-get games, would be #2 on the list behind Gears of War. It's looking that good right now. Similar to the X-Men Legends games, but with a metric assload of additional characters, and with those characters, a wide variety of additional powers to use on hapless goons. Oh yeah. I'm there.

Well, what's cool is that the right controller is your stick, so you have much more control over it. Rear-back on the control and push it forward for a slapshot, or just flick it for a wrist-shot. While I think the "never having to use your buttons" is hyperbole, I like that fact that the controller's design sounds more free-flowing, just like the game itself.

You're right. I was thinking in the sense of letting people risk their own points in order to play. Since the points are bought with actual money, if you risk them at all, I'd assume that that's considered gambling. I can certainly see Microsoft setting up free tournaments in which the players risk nothing but the winners earn points. I hadn't thought of that before you mentioned it.

I don't see how fun its going to be when most people won't fold when dealing with free money.
1) I can see it as a good tool for some of us who want to work on our games. For example, we could have 4 to 6 serious poker players here on FOFC, talk about hands right after they happened at a private table. It isn't the same as playing with real money, we all know that. But you can still learn from it with the right group of people.
2) It will clearly be a good tool for those of us who play low stakes poker once in ahile. When I go to the .25/.50 rooms, there is a lot of the playing it to the river.
3) It'll be fun to just play with some friends. using the FOFC as an example, I'm not likely to see Mizzou, Eaglesfan27 or SackAttack at our poker games on stars. We could see them here.
4) If you are going to have a free money setup, I think MS has it setup about as well as you can. Essentially, you have to build your bankroll to play at the higher stakes games. If you blow your wad, you have to start from the lower stakes to move your way up. I would imagine most of the guys at the higher stakes will be halfway decent players. Not great players, but average.

Saints Row looks pretty good, but after having gotten NCAA, Dead Rising, and Madden in the past month or so I'm going to have to lay off for a while. :)

I'm sure I'll wait as well... NHL is my next purchase to get by the wife. :)

I take that to mean that you can't wait to ask us how we like these games after they come out.

Anyone played Prey? I almost rented it last night but figured I wouldn't waste the money to rent a game for $6 for 5 nights when I would only have a day and a half with it. It looks interesting. I have never really played 1st person shooter games too much and I think that is what it is.

Shoot... I've read some good impressions from people who have Saints Row already.. and I think I'm going to pick it up next week.
Maybe IGN and Gamespot will have their reviews up Monday so I can see how the longevity of the game is.

I'm waiting to see how the reviews are for Enchanted Arms, but if they are good, I'm almost certainly going to pick that up this week for the 360.

I bought this based on the demo. I am not a FPS type of person and I really like Prey. I think it is because the environment is pretty cool. I borrow Far Cry from a friend today and got tired of it after about 90 minutes due to the same FPS formula.
Prey is pretty good.

This has received mediocre reviews, but the folks posting about it are liking it. I took advantage of EB's deal and traded Tiger Woods '06 and Tony Hawk and $10 to get this. I haven't played it yet. I don't know when I will though since I got Saints Row yesterday as well.
One thing I have learned reading boards, one of the main characters appears to be gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I just don't remember an American game having any gay characters.

Yeah, I've read the reviews and haven't been too impressed so far. I don't care at all if a main character is gay, but have read that the voice acting is really bad. However, my wife is enjoying what she is reading, so we'll probably pick this up later this week unless the Gamespot review really pans it whenever it comes up.
Edit to add: She really likes that most "regular people" who have bought it, like it. Avg users review on gamespot is 8.6 and only a few users seem to dislike it.
