I don't get it.

Ok, since there's three posters who don't get it.. Quik is referring to a line of commetary in FM2006 when a player deliberately kicks the ball out of bounds (usually as hard as possible) to give the defense a chance to breathe and reset up.

For example.. Team FOFC is playing Barcelona. Since most of us suck at soccer, Barcelona is basically laying siege to our goal (and poor SkyDog's in net)..

After a couple shots on net that somehow don't go in, the ball bounces out to Jeeber, who sees Ronaldinho and Eto'o (two famous Barcelona players)... bearing down on him. Besides crapping his pants with fear at this point, Jeebies knows that if he gives up the ball, it's likely going to be a Barcelona goal.. so he boots it out of bounds as hard as he can..

The announcer will nod and say "He put that ball into Row Z, he's taking no chances there"

Is that anything like lining out to the catcher from the PBP in OOTP?

No, the row z thing in FM is a fair representation. When in doubt, kick it out was something I was trained to do as a bad defender in youth football :)

As some old manager said "they can't score if the balls in the stand".

He's out. No wait, safe! Safe at second base. This kid really makes things happen out there.

This'd make a perfect 10 second ad spot.

Row Z: He's taking no chances there.

I miss the "He sends the ball into orbit" line. I haven't seen that one in the 2006 game, and I've officially put over 102 days into it (I love the "addictedness rating" that comes up when your game reaches 100 days).

Anyway, yeah, he sends the ball into orbit.

thanks for the explanation...i play 95% of my FM2006 at 2am while sitting in bed next to my sleeping wife, so i mute the PBP and have never actually heard that line.

Timestamp bug totally freaked me out on that one.

EDIT: I'm still an hour behind. I feel like I've gone back in time, to the 1985 when Biff ruled the world.

fm2006 has spoken PBP?

is there still the express mode of simulating your games (highlights, i think it was called)?
