View Full Version : FM Memory Issue

Has anyone ever gotten the thoroughly irritating "FM is running dangerously low on memory", followed by it indeed running out of memory and quitting?

Get to a point in my long running Notts County dynasty and it blows up every time. Tried messing with my virtual memory settings, no go. System informs me that it has plenty of RAM available (2 gigs of ram in the machine to begin with).

Doesn't seem to be any definitive solution on my brief glance on the SI boards.

Edit: Just burned through about 3 weeks of time on one of my other saves, doesn't seem to be having any issues. It's of course, just my main game.

This is sometimes a problem caused by third-party add-ons (going particularly crazy with skins and graphics adds) - sometimes its just a rogue corrupted sector in your save game.

If you want me to poke around in the save game (and see if I can work out whats up) then feel free to put it up on the net or me to download (then PM me its location).

Hope this helps,

Marc

I have this happen occasionally when I have been playing for a while, but first it usually says that Direct Sound has run out of memory and turns off the sound. Then it crashes from virtual memory. I can reload my past save and not have it happen though, I've never been able to repeat it.

Too late, unfortunately. Tried to re-save the game with compression on, got somewhat trigger happy and overwrote the original file. Wouldn't be a problem, except it crashed while saving. If it wasn't trashed before, it sure is now. :)
