View Full Version : OT: Please offer a team name for the GroupThink universe
QuikSand
02-09-2003, 01:06 PM
We're setting up files for the universe in which several of us are going to jointly manage an FOF4 franchise - a "GroupThink" exercise. We have decided to create a fictional universe - no real players, and no real teams.
If you have a suggestion for a team name for one of the "background" teams, that would be very welcome. In my mind, the best way to go might be to have a number of teams that are geographically associated with a particular FOFC person - I think that would add some nice flavor to the exercise. (You could even play a GroupThink role as the owner/GM/coach of that team, if you wanted)
Anyway... all suggestions welcome, but (I suppose) no guarantees that they will fit into our eventual theme.

I offer the

double-dola.
It might be fun to give each division a theme. For example maybe one division could be the
Cut-throats
Pirates
Buccaneers
Raiders
obviously a pirate division.
or the boring color diviions:
browns
greys
blues
reds

If that's the case, I would offer the

I didn't go into a massive diatribe nor did I go into a flame war, I just stated my opinion and moved on, nothing funnier than a bunch of innocents getting blown up by a wacko, I'm sure you can find something funny about it...

So I guess I have to be religious to mourn those killed protecting our country?
I never said anything about religion, you are just a poor excuse for a human being, or a very immature person.
I thought OK City Bombers was a poor taste post, there are a lot of poor taste posts on the board, but this one which jokes about the deaths of men, women and children by a wacko with a cause, was just very poor.
You have made it into a bigger issue, and now you are using poor baiting insults, you are a sad individual regardless of religion.

You've seen his wittiest though, it was the OK City Bombers, I mean that's the sharpest one yet, brilliant intelligent and thought provoking...but hey, now he can insult me all he wants, or my mom, or any family members, my pet cat or dog (both deceased sadly), but since this guy has fun mocking dead people, it wouldn't be beneath him to get all witty with my family or something, (that or calling me out to his address for a fistfight), so now I hit ignore, and am in bliss.
I like all the names so far, save for one.
Shame I'm going to be in the dark with all of Braggy's wonderful comments...I'm going to miss them, deeply...on second thought, not really.

Qwik, your acting foolish. If you remember anything about the Oklahoma City Bombings, you would remember every comedian in the world making jokes (leno, letterman, etc...) about who was John Doe #2. Everybody laughed. I laughed, you laughed, we all laughed. After the twin towers fell many jokes were made about Bin Laden, and they were all funny. Have you ever laughed at anything said about Saddam? Well you know it's really not funny. Countless innocent people have died because of this man. Whatever reason you decide to flip out because of a football team being called "Oklahoma City Bombers" is beyond me. It went over well the first time I mentioned it. Why you would choose to go balistic now...? When people die, are you supposed to never mention them again? That's not called respect, that's called fear of losing face. Your feeling of being a supreme being above me, or anybody else that says something that you don't agree with, will come back to bite you in the butt later in life. That is unless your life is miserable already due to your attitude. I'm not going to judge you though...

You want to know what I remember from the OK City bombing...the fireman bringing the little girl(baby) from the rubble, she died in his arms.
I remember getting back from class turning on headlines news and having it plastered all over.
I never laughed about it, NYC, Columbine, or Columbia.
Don't ever equate yourself to the likes of letterman, leno, you are no leno, or letterman (to rephrase a famous political quote)...I'm sure if they had used in their monologue,:
"Hey a new franchise in Ok City, it's called (drumming for the punchline) the Bombers"
How many would've laughed?...you can make fun of the killers, you can't make fun of the victims, I was put off by your team name, I called it cold blooded, you proceeded to make a big stink about it...saying I should loosen up (lighten up) and then remarking that the statement wasn't directed at me, yet, I'm the only one who made a comment about it.
Everybody laughed. I laughed, you laughed, we all laughed. After the twin towers fell many jokes were made about Bin Laden, and they were all funny. Have you ever laughed at anything said about Saddam? Well you know it's really not funny. Countless innocent people have died because of this man.
Hello? You weren't making fun of Saddam, you were making fun of the OK City bombing...yeah, many died at the hands of Saddam and Osama, but you didn't post anything about them.
Not that that would be any funnier than this.
Whatever reason you decide to flip out because of a football team being called "Oklahoma City Bombers" is beyond me.
Go back to history class son. You made fun of a terrorist attack on U.S. soil. It's not even veiled as anything but that, a joke on the attack.
It went over well the first time I mentioned it. Why you would choose to go balistic now...?
I didn't see it prior to this posting, different group, sorry if I have some compassion about these things...I actually care about what happened, sorry if you don't.
When people die, are you supposed to never mention them again? That's not called respect, that's called fear of losing face.
Yeah, let's make fun of the situation. Losing face? I don't follow you, people died in the OK City bombing because of working for the U.S. gov'nt. Children died in the daycare center and as Tim McVeigh stated they were "collatoral damage'. I call it empathy, I call it respect for the dead...not losing face, losing face is not piping up when some unsympathetic idiot like yourself thinks that something they made up is funny that has to do with something so terrible as an incident like this one...people in OK City are still scarred by it, but to you, it's funny, good for you...like I said, you should be so proud of yourself.
Your feeling of being a supreme being above me, or anybody else that says something that you don't agree with, will come back to bite you in the butt later in life.
You bring religion into it, nothing better huh...like being relgious really is the reason why I'm so upset by this, no moron, it's because people died horribly and you mocked it...get with the program on this...nothing to do with being religious...what was that whole Sunday morning comment, like if I go to church that answers why I'm making a big stink about this?
That is unless your life is miserable already due to your attitude. I'm not going to judge you though...
Glad you're not judging me, like I would care anyway. My life is quite good actually cept I keep running into dolts like yourself.
You are probably the type of person that if they had found a piece of shuttle wreckage could've justified selling it on ebay.
Let me tell you a little story, when I was in the 7th grade we were stuck in art class.
The assignment was to make a one scene cartoon (ala the far side).
One kid drew a picture of Hitler with one hand covering his face in agony, the other gripping a piece of paper. The caption read: What really drove Hitler to suicide...
The piece of paper was a gas bill.
I laughed a little, then I found out my next door neighbors were survivors from the holocaust, with the wonderful branding tatoos. I didn't laugh then.
So yeah it does come back to you, you think that you can make fun of something because it didn't affect you, or anyone you know, but it does, somehow, someway.
I thought your team name was in poor taste, you've proved my point that you really don't care about it, it didn't make an impression upon you as something serious...
My one fraternity brother has a wedding coming up this summer, his mother was on tower 2, she was never found.
I hope that you or your family never have to be a victim to something as tragic as anything I named, or even smaller scale.
You just don't get it, and then you decide to play the victim, which is sad and pathetic.
Go about your little world sheep, but I'd be careful with your jokes.
I'm not replying to you anymore, you can have the last word on this matter.
