Here's the list of votes for the bottom 50 movies on IMDb (minimum 650 votes). I know it is skewed towards recent crap but do you generally agree with this list? Any surprises on it?

I have Glitter on DVD as a gag gift. Someone bought it for me, opened the packaging, slid it into my DVD collection, and then added it to my DVDaficianado page. A later night he came back to my place when others were overe anmd asked to see my DVD collection, and I agreed. Then he said, "What's Glitter doing here?" Everybody thought it was funny. Until I played Glitter continuously for five straight weeks during Magic night at my place.

Ack...there was a bad suspense/horror movie that came out in 1990 or 91 that I saw on a date (at least I think it was around then...with the quantity of dates I had, you'd think I'd remember the movie and when it was), but I can't remember it. It was really bad though.

The worst movie of all time is "Plan 9 From Outer Space." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plan_9_from_Outer_Space) The film's star, Bela Lugosi, died in the middle of filming, and his remaining scenes were played by a taller actor with a cape over his face (Tom Mason). It is widely noted for its numerous goofs, including:

"Night" and "day" shots are interspersed constantly within the same scene (for example, Paula Trent runs in darkness through the cemetery, while the old man's corpse chases her in daylight). One porthole on the alien spaceship shows a cloudy day (shown during a scene set at night), while the others show only blackness.

Mason's attempts to hide the fact that he is not Lugosi are wildly unsuccessful. As an early version of Leonard Maltin's movie guidebook put it, "Lugosi died during production, and it shows."

The opening narration redundantly informs the viewer how "future events such as these will affect you in the future".

On the numerous graveyard scenes, as characters brush against tombstones, the stones wobble and, in one case, fall over.

During a scene in an airplane cockpit, a flash of light from a flying saucer reveals the shadow of the boom mike. Also in this scene, the actress playing the flight attendant bumps into the curtain several times while waiting for her cue.

The flying saucers (visibly wobbling on strings) cast shadows over the "space" backdrop.

When Tor Johnson drops the girl in the cemetery, a pillow is clearly visible beneath her.

Most notably in the first scenes, string is clearly visible from the top of the wobbly saucer to the top of the screen.

Vegas. . . if a movie is so horrible it's funny on the UIC scale, it shouldn't be on the worst list. It has entertainment value, afterall. There are some movies that just make you cringe at seeing them and you'd rather have forks shoved through your eye sockets than to be forced to watch them again. I believe Planet 9 is the first kind.

And while I haven't seen it, I'm sure Gigli is the second.

House Of The Dead and Alone In The Dark are two more. So at least 3, but I didn't check all of them.

EDIT: He's only directed 14 movies, so 3 out of 14 ain't bad. Plus, several of his other movies would be on that list, they just don't have enough votes.

No Meatballs movie should be on the worst movie list.

But the worst movie of all time *has* to be "But I'm A Cheerleader!"

I hated Natasha Lyonne for life after that SOC.

Punch Drunk Love should really have made the list.

Can someone explain that movie to me?

American Ninja 3? Wasn't that the series with B martial arts movie star Michael Dudikoff? He was the last resort if you couldn't get Norris, Segal or Freckles, the retarded Ninja Mountain Goat.

Where is Star Wars: Eposode One at? I couldn't even make it through half of that movie. If those movies were released in chronological order, we never would have seen the "good" ones as they never would have made it that far.

Fortunately, I've only seen 3 of those, and none of the recent ones.

Ahhh Crow, Servo, Mike/Joel...where are you when we need you.

Mike Nelson is actually doing some new MST3K-like things now on the website RiffTrax. You have to purchase the MP3 (a couple of dollars) and listen via a MP3 player while you watch the movie. Not as visually appealing as MST3K, but this way he (and some of the other Brains) can do some titles they would never be able to do otherwise. So far he's done The Fifth Element, Roadhouse, Star Trek V, Cocktail, XXX, Plan 9, and Night of the Living Dead.

Yeah, RiffTrax is great. It's not as great as MST3K since there isn't a full staff of writers, but Mike Nelson ripping on 1980s Tom Cruise films is still going to make for some good comedy.

The biggest problem with Rifftrax is that Netflix now thinks I'm a Trekkie that loves Tom Cruise and Vin Diesel movies.

Ah, I have a whole new appreciation for the film then.
