I know we have Troy this year at QB, and Zwick is the backup, but since both are seniors and will be gone after this season, who is going to step up next year and lead this team? I like the look of Schoenhoff(sp?) the kid is a physical monster, something like 6 foot 6 and 240?

So, anyone in the know that can help me out here? I want to keep an eye on the up and coming players while I enjoy the success we're having now.

Boeckman or however you spell it, has been challenging Zwick for the #2 spot for the last two years. He is the favorite.

I think most expect Tim Boeckman, a RS Sophomore from St. Henry or Shoenhoft to start next year. I've heard that Boeckman has the advantage right now but it is really too early to say.

The wild card is Antonio Henton, a freshman who will redshirt this year from Georgia. He's in the Troy Smith mold, an athletic guy who is comfortable staying in the pocket and throwing the ball.

I expect them all to get plenty of PT early and then Tressel will settle on one of them. The schedule is easy next year. Really, really easy. tOSU should have a good, veteran defense and a very good running game which will help the new QB along.

That's Todd Boeckman. He'll get the nod. And we're talking about this why?

How could he have been battle Zwick for the #2 spot two years ago, when Zwick was battling for the #1 spot one year ago?

Ah. I don't mind if people refer to a team as "we". It happens. I think, particularly if you're an alumni (or student) at a university it's more acceptable than for pro teams.

I just had no idea RendeR was a Buckeye fan. Though it certainly does explain some things...

I mind. I consciously make an effort never to use "we". Sounds dumb.

I'll give it a pass if you are attending the university though. Alumni are not allowed to use we. Get over it...you don't go there anymore.

I too conciously make an effort to avoid it. For all sports. Not a fan either.

Three full sentences! Nice!! You don't just mind this, you must really mind this.

I don't care about the usage of "we" with a sports team. Alumni or not.

I don't use it often, but I'm not bothered at all by someone who does.

Well, if you give money to the school, that cash could have been used to pay off the players to come play ;). Therefore, 'we' could be appropriate.

Though I try to never use "we" when talking about a team I back.

When I string more than 10 words together you know it's a hot button issue.

What's the issue with "we"? It's my team, my cash buys their parafenalia(sp) tickets, food at the games, etc. My voice lends support on every play, my emotions send positive energy to the players.

You're saying the 12th, 10th, 6th, 7th man etc etc doesn't have a right to say "we" and claim kinship with his or her heros?

Screw that. When I support my team they are as much mine to claim as anything. I say if you don't use "we" then you're not passioate enough about your teams.

"WE" should have another awesome season next year in Columbus.

GO BUCKEYES!

I'm not crazy about "we" but I'll admit I find myself using it from time-to-time. I think it's much more acceptable in a college/alumni situation than with a pro sports team. I attended the university, i've contributed to the football program financially, I don't think "we" is too huge a stretch in that instance.

I agree totally. Add to the fact that fans at games oftentimes have an impact on the actual game, especially in college. Fans have every right to consider themselves part of the team.

Ditto. I make annual contributions to USC as an alum, and I'll sometimes use "we" when referring to the school or the team.
