So my Fiancee has complained the entire time we have been together about her complexion, and aside from my crude jokes about creams she can apply, we've decided to get the Proactiv skin care system after a coworker raved about it. Now, one thing I already dont like is that its basically a monthly subscription which I hate. Her skin isn't that bad but she has 2 spots on her face that break out and thats what ends up causing her much mental anguish. I will let you all know our results as she's promised ot use it BUT I was wondering if anyone on here has had any experiences with this product?

There is a generic version you can get from Sam's or Costco called AcneFree that is the exact same formula and costs half the price. It works really well, the best OTC stuff I've tried.

Is this the one P Diddy, or whatever he does by this week, endorses?

yes him and Jessica Simpson
my wife likes the stuff...she got it at the mall from one of those little kiosk people. $50 to $70 if I remember right. I will let here know about the Costco one now though.

I picked it up from the mall and it has lasted quite a long time > 6 months. I found that one application instead of the recommended two has worked great. I used to have a few problem areas that would flare up pretty often but my skin has been clear for all but the first two weeks since I started using the product.

I tried it in the mid-90's and was completely underwhelmed. YMMV.

My girlfriend swears by it.
If you don't like the monthly subscription thing -- which I can certainly agree with -- check out the kiosk at the mall as SnDvls said. They have makeup and what nots there as well.
Never knew about the CostCo thingie, though. Thanks for the heads up. :)

If she has it pretty bad, look into seeing someone about Accutane.
Its a harsh treatment, but damn.. I haven't had a pimple outbreak in 7 years after my face had basically become one huge pimple. Yes, it was that bad. I literally would pop several of them just by laughing or making an exaggerrated facial expression. Sorry if anyone was eating when they read this.
All I know is Accutane is a one time treatment, goes for 3 or 6 months, I can't quite recall, and totally obliterates acne, practically forever. I might get one every couple weeks or so, after a particularly dirty night at work or if I have gone for a couple days without a shower for some godawful reason.

fyi: Accutane is teratogenic and can cause serious birth defects. It shouldn't be used by women who are at risk of becoming pregnant.
As far as ProActiv Skin Care products, my wife swears by them too (but doesn't like the generic for some odd reason that I cannot fathom.)

Aren't most women at risk of becoming pregnant? :D
