So, as I mentioned in my health insurance thread, I am changing jobs.

I have been with Emerson for 7 1/2 years now, and making a big change. In fact I will only be half the trucker I currently am. The new job is only part driver as I will be doing other stuff which I am pretty excited about.

I start in two weeks, maybe I will really throw up some first impressions. I have some new stuff to learn, along with new equipment to get used to. It should be pretty fun, and perhaps a welcome challenge in some ways.

My main reason for this thread though was to throw out a public thanks to MacroGuru. He gave me the heads-up about the job, and even gave me a pretty good recommendation that helped me out more then he thinks. I never thought FOFC would lead me to a new job/career.

That's fantastic! I wish you all the best.

That's awesome Cringe, grats and good luck. So are you keeping the beard or what?

MacroGuru, that's pretty cool what you for a fellow FOFCer.

Haha, nope. The hair and beard will get a major chopping in the next week or two. I will miss my 'year of not shaving or cutting my hair' by a couple months, but this is worth it I think. I will go back to a goatee of somekind. Not sure what happens to the hair yet.

So what IS the new job?

I mean isn't the employment area a little limited for someone who's spent 7 years as a rolling traffic violation? ;)

j/k best of luck to you man, I hope its all you want it to be!

Employment area limited? Yeah pretty much. I guess that is one of the reasons I wanted this job. It is different.

I don't want to go into it too much, but the job is still driving a truck. It's just I don't deliver anything. We go on tours, staying in places for a day or 2-3 days sometimes. I will get to work the trailer when stopped, and be able to learn new positions (in other words, an actual type of career advancement as opposed to doing the same thing for the next 25 years). The trailers are pretty cool I hear, modified and decked out with some cool shit. I am looking forward to it.

Funny, without giving to many details about the job it almost makes it sound like I will be working for a carnival. :D I won't be though.

Just talked to my current boss a bit ago. It was almost kind of sad, he was all bummed out sounding I was leaving and said right away that they would welcome me back in a second. Nice to hear, and know I guess.

If I remember correctly, MacroGuru mentioned something a while back about his job, but he didn't give many details either. Now I see that MacroGuru gave a recommendation to help get Cringer this job, and Cringer doesn't want to give details.

What the hell are these people doing in a trailer?!

Brutal torture!

We are an advanced Training, Marketing and Consulting company that works in a wide range of areas with Technology. We work with some of the worlds largest retailers as far electronics sales go.

Our trucks and trailers are fully self contained mobile technology labs with some of the latest and greatest technologies and devices available for the public or what are coming out.

We have some amazing opportunities we will be showing off this upcoming year, and it also brings us into the heart of the where a lot of FOFCers live...it's why I am always asking if people want to meet...

Again, if you want to see one of our trucks that I have taken some pics on and shared with, it is available here. (http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/showthread.php?t=49317&highlight=Mobile+Office)

Anyways, your welcome to Cringer and look forward to meeting at corporate.

Sounds like driving one of those rolling high-tech exhibit trucks. They go from show to show.

Or he has become a groupie to a rock band and goes from concert to concert. That would be cool.

We are above the normal exhibit trucks, we do a lot more than that.

For example, the tour I am on right now, we travel to schools, 3 of them a week, and donate our time and training and provide a tech day for the schools. We take 30 kids and do hands on training of Microsoft Student and Digital Video or Image editing, teaching a love of technology and forcing the kids to step outside of their comfort zone of games, chatting or myspace when it comes to it, then on my Friday nights, I run an xbox 360 gaming tournament for free at one of the universities, we are in Morgantown this week, so you will see our truck somewhere on the campus....then we hit the minor part of the tour which is our exhibit at our retail partner, plus we have a 360 gaming tournament there as well.

We are heavily involved with most of the vendors out on the market and talk to them a lot. Our job is to have our fingers on the "pulse" of electronics.

In Morgantown, huh? That's roughly an hour south of me. Not making your way up through southwestern Pennsylvania anytime soon, are ya? :)

Not this tour, we were in Allentown a couple of weeks ago (Not me, I flew in last week), after here we head to Huntington, WV and onto Louisville.

Well, there you have it. MacroGuru can obviously explain it much better then I would even come close to right now since I haven't had even a day on the job. :P

I liked leaving the illusion that I was a carny though.
