I am listening to some Junkies Podcasts from last week and heard about this. I don't think either of you listen to them, so didn't know if you heard about this or if you might be interested.

Junkies listeners only? Now how exactly to they enforce that?

I actually had a student of mine tell me about this... I might go up and play. I *love* the Borgata.

They don't advertise outside of their show or their website. I think that's all there is to it, I don't think that there's some "quiz" or something to participate ;)

I figured it might be doable for you and seemed like a payoff worth paying for unlike your failed house games ;).

Well I know about it and am not a junkies listener. Then I tell two friends and they tell two friends and...

Its an open tourney. Only 300, supposedly first come, first serve. When they officially announced it a week ago, you just had to sign up when the sign up was available. Do to the overwhelming amount of people who want to join, the Borgata is now requiring that you have a Borgata Players card to enter.

Top 30 of 300 get cash back.

There's awfully little chanjce that this becomes really an event for insiders only. I have heard about it three times already -- poker circles are already pretty well set up for spreading word about things fairly quickly. The only way they could get this to work out as a "Junkies only" thing would be to make an announcement on the air that "signups are right now!" and to take them first come first serve at that very moment. As it stands, there will be tons of non-insiders sitting and waiting to sign up as soon as it's announced.

Exactly. They could've made it alot longer and more people, and judging by the response already, I think that is what they will do next year.

What it comes down to is "for listeners only!" is just a gimmick that really means nothing.

Well, truth be told, it *could* be for listeners only, but then they wouldn't get the 300 players required.

Well I don't like it. It annoys me.

Granted I have no intention of playing in the thing but still.
