I saw that the other day... clearly the logo they had directly in front of the finish line was far too slippery and should have been removed.

Worst part would've been if he had slipped and not officially crossed the finish line before the guy behind him.

I love how the announcers' first (and second) reactions were, "Did he cross the line?" Never mind that his head bounced off the ground.

So....did he win, or did he technically not cross the line?

Had someone at work talk about this yesterday. They said his midsection crossed the line and thus he crossed first, making him the winner. Evidentally from what I heard the person who finished second raised a fuss because the winner got $150,000 prize or something like that.

The winner also got points to some bigger pool for a collection of marathons where the winner gets a million or few million dollars or so. So this was a huge thing evidentally to my marathon following friends.

There's a sort of a "super series" of the most prestigious marathons—that's the "bigger pool" you mention.
