I will be getting one soon for my new job and had aquestion. I see how much adevice costs like a blackberry acouple $100. But, I wasn't clear on what type of software you need to run it. Someone told me they had to get a "data plan" service/subscription that was like $150 a month.
I will be using mine for email's and phone calls and setting up some meetings through the outlook with my pc.

Yes, you have to have both a phone plan and data plan. Depending on how much you are planning to use the email/browser functions and depending on the provider, you can buy different data plans. For unlimited use, they range from $30-60, from the research I did last year. I have an 8700 that I bought through my firm, but they pay for the data plan, so I'm only responsible for the phone plan.

Blackberry comes with desktop managment software that you can setup to redirect email to your device from your desktop. It also has synchronization functions that synch your calendar, pim, email, etc. with your blackberry when it is connected to your pc.

If you are getting this through work, check and see if they have the blackberry enterprise server in place - a lot of this stuff can just be pushed to the device wirelessly and when you delete items from your handheld they can be deleted from your email simultaneously.

I have an 8100 and my unlimited data plan is $20/mo on top of my regular bill.

Thanks, for the repsonses. I found out what was already said above and that the new firm I am moving to will subsidize part of the purchase price for the device and pick up the Data plan service fee. My last question is, where is agood place to get a Blackberry for areasonable price. I have heard the service provider shops will rip people off and they are way over priced. Any suggestions online or mortar n' bricks.
