Just Wow! Everytime I see him play he makes 2-3 deep catches (where he has cleanly beaten his defender). He just caught another one.

It hurts though. The Pats had him scheduled for a visit in the offseason, looking to trade for him. However, he never went after visiting Denver. And so Denver got him by trading a second rounder, and the Pats spent a 2nd on Chad Jackson. I still think Jackson will be good, but Walker would be great right now on the Pats.

So much for that ACL injury.

Back during my draft I picked Walker ahead of Chambers and was given the business by most of the people in the room.

One guy, in particular, who ended up with Chambers a couple of picks later was all over me about this. We played this week. He has already traded Chambers and Walker has outscored his team today.

:(

me too. and it hurt more cuz i traded him to the team that had him today. i traded Walker after like week 2. i thought his value was at its highest and i didn't want to roll the dice on a guy recovering from an ACL injury.

i shoulda rolled the dice.

i even traded the same guy Kevin Jones cuz i thought his trade value wouldn't have been any higher than it was 2 weeks ago. i traded him for Brunell (i needed a bye week QB) and Duece McCallister. the Lions suck, and good fantasy RBs don't come from shitty teams. i know patience is a virtue, but in fantasy football you gotta know when someone's value it at it's peak cuz hanging on too long with a guy playing over his head will screw you in the long run.

still, today i would have liked to have had Javon Walker and Kevin Jones.

Horray for Walker and his 38 points he gave my team today!

I read that Shanahan knew Walker was supposed to visit New England after his visit in Denver, so he and whatever players hosted his visit delayed him to keep him missing flights and stay in town until he signed the deal.

Wow...who knew Shanahan was such a huge Casino fan?

Hate to see Green Bay lose such an explosive weapon for a lousy second round pick, but I certainly don't blame Walker for wanting out.

The guy is a legit #1 WR and they are so hard to come by... Greg Jennings is looking like the real deal, but I don't think he'll turn out as good as Walker will turn out.

I was going to start a thread about this. It's Walker has been nothing short of exceptional. He had a fairly poor game against the Rams, dropping a lot of balls he should have caught.

After that point, you can say he's played a huge role in Bronco wins against KC (huge catch in OT), NE (2 long TD catches), Baltimore (63 yards receiving on a night we couldn't move the ball), Cleveland (over 100 yards) and now Pittsburgh.

What an incredible signing. I can't believe the Packers didn't up this guys contract a couple of years ago. Amazing.

I love Javon Walker. So nice to be able to root for a former FSU player on my favorite NFL team.

Team I played in my money league today:

Vick
Walker
Chambers
Evans
W. Parker
Barber
Cooley
Tynes
Falcons D

My team scored 122 points (2nd highest in the league) and still lost by 26.

I wish he wasn't such a douche to GB...it was really shitty how he left here.

I get the impression that Javon Walker is doing all the things that the Broncos expected Ashley Lelie to do. While Lelie was good for a long pass every other game or so, Walker is really doing it all. He can catch the shorter passes and break some tackles. He knows how to get to the first down marker every time he touches the ball. It seemed like Lelie was completely uninterested in anything but running fly patterns. I have no hate for Ashley Lelie, but if he had really worked at it and stopped complaining, he could have had all the attention that Javon Walker is getting right now.

See, I don't think it was. He had a monster year and was going to hold out for a big contract. He decided against it after the team refused to renegotiate his deal and Farve blasted him in the media.

I can see GB's point, he only had one big year and they wanted him to prove it again. Well, that's fine, but when you have a guy who clearly outperformed his rookie deal, I think they should have threw him a bone. They chose not to and he didn't hold out. He played and in game one, wouldn't you know it, he blows out his knee and misses the year.

At that point, he isn't coming back unless they rework his deal. GB refuses and he demands a trade.

I'm not sure how any of us would have handled the situation any differently. The same thing happened with Portis and the Broncos. He had outplayed the rookie deal, he wanted it reupped and the organization didn't want to do it. They shipped him before it became a huge problem.

Again, I understand GB wanting not to renegotiate when he wanted to, but they made a serious miscalculation. Denver got an absolute steal.

I was about to reply to that message, but decided to finish reading the thread first. You said most of the things I would have said. I don't see how Javon is the bad guy in the GB situation.

I simply do not blame a guy for an action many of us would have taken.

I agree as well. He did report and ended up sacrificing by blowing his knee out. He's ok in my book. I just wish he was on the Pats.

I agree the Packers should have thrown him a bone, but whatever happened to honoring the contract you sign? I would love for just once some guy give back some of the huge money they get after they sign a contract and stink up the joint afterward. Why does a team have to up the ante if a player is not willing to give some back if they stink?!

And teams don't cut underperforming players 2-3 years before their deals are up? They "give up" their roster bonuses and remaining yearly salaries when they are cut.

In pro football, thanks to non-guaranteed contracts, I have no problems with holdouts - except for a TO-like situation, where he's looking to renegotiate a year later AND the deal he signed was competitive in the market (i.e, he wasn't some 6th rounder who turned out to be a great player). Otherwise, the NFL system gives both the player and the team fair warning and opportunity to yank the other around regardless of what their contract is for.

It amazes me that most football fans don't know that NFL player contracts are basically year-to-year. they should hold out for whatever they can get. for a jerk like favre to call out a teammate on it was pretty shocking, but he's getting what he deserves now.

Exactly. It's easy to say "honor" your contract when the team won't do it for you. The Titans owed Steve McNair a ridiculous figure this year after he'd renegotiated multiple times to get them cap space. They didn't "honor" the contract, they not only cut him they didn't even let him practice at the facility while they decided what they were going to do.

Walker clearly had outperformed his deal for that year. Now, again, it wa a one year thing. If they didn't feel it was worth it, that's fine. But once his knee blew out on that opening play it was a no brainer. The Packers had a decision to make. They could either rework the contract and pay the man or they could trade him.

They made their choice. I think it was the wrong one. (and I'm happy as hell they made it)

Walker had a quote to the effect that even when he came back (before injuring his knee) he had decided he wouldn't be playing for the packers next year because of how he was treated during the holdout. Didn't name Favre specifically, though.
