IMO most if not all of the NFL Preview shows are extremely annoying. On CBS, I can't stand Shannon Sharpe and his butchering of the English language. On ESPN, Michael Irvin........well, is Michael Irvin. The crack has fried what little of a brain this guy might have ever had, and most of his rantings are nothing more than protecting guys the were idiots like he was. I was enjoying the fox preview, until they just had to bring Joe fucking Buck back this past week. Joe, well, Joe sucks too. My question to you is which do you prefer, if any? and........if you could pick an ideal lineup, from the guys currently on the preview shows, what would it be like? Mine would be................

Boomer Esiason
Dan Marino
Jimmy Johnson

James Brown as the host.

My ideal lineup would be Berman, Jackson, Young, Marino, and the QB from Philly whose name is escaping me at the moment.

I'd add Jackson to my lineup as well if I could have more than 3 other than the host. The philly QB is Jaworski.

I used to love NFL countdown, but Ditka just ruins it for me. I can handle Irvin but I would rather still have Sterling Sharpe.

My Lineup would be
James Brown
Sterling Sharpe
Steve Young
Ron Jaworski
Tom Jackson

Gimme the old NFL Today with Brent Musburger, Irv Cross, Phyllis George, and Jimmy the Greek.

I watch ESPN's coverage. I agree that Sterling Sharpe was light years ahead of Michael Irvin. Jaws is probably the best analyst on these shows in breaking down the game. Tom Jackson is good at that as well. Howie Long and Jimmy Johnson of Fox are amusing and perhaps deserve a segment or something.

I'd go with: James Brown, Sterling Sharpe, Ron Jaworski, & Tom Jackson. I guess Sharpe would be reading the highlights (as James Brown doesn't seem to do that). Have Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson, and Dick Vermeil (who was great as the ESPN 'B Team' color commentator) discuss a few seperate questions every week.

If it could only be 4 guys, I would cut out Marino, as I obviously love him as a player, but as an analyst, he is merely okay. He doesn't add a lot, but at least he isn't an obnoxious idiot. Thanks for the help with Jaws. I just blank out on names all the time. :)

I agree that Sharpe was light years ahead of Irvin. I know some folks don't like Sharpe, but I never had a problem with him.

On a side note, it seems like Madden is a little more on track this year. Less "boom", more insight (like in the Colts game where he was wondering why bother with screens against a fast defense when ramming it up the middle was working well). But maybe that's just me.;)

No way I go with Tom Jackson. Too up-and-down for a reliable host. His whole "The team hates Bellichik" fiasco, his "Jacked Up" segment (where he celebrates the kind of hits that get people hurt, thus helping contribute to players playing for the big hit rather than just football), his other run-ins ... no thanks.

Berman is good if he can drop the nickname schtick.

Jaworski is the best analyst out there, period.

On sunday mornings I watch the ESPN pregame show. On saturday I like to watch the Edge...I mean State Farm NFL Matchup and the Fox NFL preview show with Jay Glazer.

Berman
Jackson
Young
Jaws

Among active players I think Tory Holt and Trent Green will be good in this role some day.

YY.

Green does a weekly radio spot in Kansas City, I could see him being good in a commentary role as well.

I don't like that segment at all. However, I thought they didn't show hit where guys were hurt more than something minor (ie: getting winded)

The shorter the better. Take 30 minutes, tee up the day and be done with it.

All the other shit is worthless.
