Ok, so I can still make the playoffs and get some money if I do very very well the rest of the way (i.e. win out with luck :))... I'd like help making crucial decisions right now, since I think I can still do this.

My team is:

QB: Grossman, Delhomme
RB: Alexander, Dunn, Addai, Travis Henry, Leon Washington
WR: Javon Walker, Colston, Chambers, Mike Furrey
TE: Owen Daniels
D/ST: Steelers
K: Shayne Graham

We start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1D/ST, and 1K. There's 4 points for a TD pass, and big negative penalties if your defense allows more than 30-something points.

I'm worried that Grossman and Delhomme might not be good enough, but there's no one really on the waivers (Brunell, Frye, Pennington, Roethlisberger, Garrard, etc.). But I am leaning towards Delhomme this week, and seeing how Grossman bounces back.

The Steelers scare me. The last 3 weeks they've put up 0, 9, and 0 points. This week against the Saints can be horrible. Would you drop them, or another of my players, for one of: Bills, Dolphins, Packers, Jets, Panthers, Colts, Lions...? Anyone else you can think of? I'm leaning towards the Panthers, at least for this week... I'm also fine with Graham as my kicker.

For RB, it'll be Dunn and Addai most of the way. Henry and Washington aren't solid enough, and Addai has started to put up OK numbers. Walker and Colston have become the #1 and 2 WRs in the league, so they'll get the start the rest of the way (barring injury).

The waivers have crap for TE, and I've been changing the starter almost every week. But I feel like I can leave Daniels there for at least 1 point a week. :P

So I'm wondering if anyone here can offer advice for this team... I feel that if I can be confident with my defense and QB, I can still make the playoffs.

Thanks.

I'd lean towards grabbing the Panthers or Colts D.

Garard is a QB I'd look at.. the rest.. eh.. pass.

From a keeper standpoint, you have a good team. I wouldn't change anything... sometimes, you just lose...

And so would you drop the Steelers for the Panthers or Colts?

Who would you drop for Garrard?

Thanks for the input.

You are really just tinkering at this point.

I'd be leery of the Steelers. They are approaching the give up point. You'd need to take a look at schedules to really separate say the Panthers, Bills or Dolphins but surely some team must have a favorable run upcoming.

You aren't going to play Garrad over Grossman or Delhomme so what's the use. Jax can easily get into one of those 9-6 games.

Are you concerned about your potential keepers for next season? Meaning, do you have to carryover a QB and defense and if so, are you happy with what you have at the moment for carryovers??

About the Steelers defense...I don't know that I'd give up on them just yet. You would think that the offense should come around any week now and that should help the defense tremendously. They have a pretty favorable schedule for the rest of the season so I would probably hold onto them and KNOW that they will turn it around.

As for your QB situation...well, Grossman has been GREAT every week save for two games. Not bad. Delhomme hasn't been anything special all season. You could do worse than those two guys...that's for sure. Grossman has a tougher schedule and seeing how he's played as of late against some bad defenses...I like your idea of sitting him a week or two to see if he rebounds. Besides, Delhomme has a couple of easier matchups over the next couple of weeks.

It's just 2 keepers. So I'll be keeping Alexander and someone else. Addai, Colston, and Walker come to mind right now.

The problem with the Steelers is this upcoming game. They can score negative points, so I'm not sure about starting them... but I'd hate to lose them. I can drop someone like... Furrey (Colston, Walker, and Chambers should be enough I think) and pick up a Panthers, Dolphins, or Colts D for this week...

Ok...only two keepers...got it.

Yeah, you're right, tough matchup for the Steelers this week...so dumping Furrey and grabbing Indy D who get to play against a Maghee-less attack led by the ever dangerous J.P. Losman should be a good bet this week.

Be careful on Dunn. He has a tendency to wear down as seasons go on, as his coaches have not yet figured out how to have him be a 15-18 carry guy and last the whole season. Henry, on the other hand, has clearly established himself as the number one, and the Titans are seemingly committed to pounding the ball to keep pressure off of Young. I'd much rather live with the better of his and Washington's matchups than Dunn.

Ok thanks, I'll consider that each week. Just took a look, and Henry is against the Ravens, while Washington is against the Pats... with Dunn going against the Browns. For this week, it'll be Dunn I believe. But I'll look each week based on matchups.

I picked up the Colts D, and dropped Furrey. However, during this most recent waiver activity, someone dropped the Pats D and Cards D. Wouldn't the Pats D be an even better pickup at this point than the Colts?

The Pats play the Jets next, followed by the Packers, Bears, Lions, Dolphins, Texans, and Jags.

The Colts play the Bills this week, followed by Dallas, Philly, the Titans, Jags, Bengals, and Texans.

Other than the Bears game, I think the Pats have an easier defensive schedule... and I can still use the Steelers if they get a fire lit up under their ass.

So, should I now drop the Colts D and hope I have a high enough priority to pick up the Pats?

I would try and trade Chambers and Delhomme for a better QB. Package them together to a team that has gaping holes at WR but has a good QB to offer. Your QB situation isn't consistent enough to win if Alexander is out. But, Walker and Colston can carry you at wideout the rest of the way.

I took a quick look at the bench QBs for each team (since no one will trade their starter and use Delhomme in his place)... here are the best ones:

Favre
Rivers
Leinart
Green/Huard
Plummer

Huard is being used as a starter while Hasselbeck is injured. I'm not sure the rest are really an upgrade over Grossman/Delhomme.

None of those guys is better than Delhomme. The guy you might consider trading for would be Leinart. You might not have to give much up for him and with Fitzgerald coming back, I think his numbers are going to improve.

I'll see what I can do...

Harrison is out for the Pats, which turns me off on their defense... maybe I'll just stick with the Colts this week, and play it on a week-by-week basis from there. Panthers, Pats, and Colts are all viable...

That won't matter against the Jets.

I don't know, Pennington and Coles can potentially expose the secondary. Now that I look at more stats, the Bucs offense is brutal... wouldn't the Panthers be the safest choice? Or should I grab the Pats (start them this week), just because they're the most consistent unit out there?

No idea but I do know the Jets suck in spite of the record.
