I am trying to learn as much as I can about the new home we will be moving to out near Denver. So, I am wondering what are the best sports radio stations in the Denver area with streaming online?

I'm not in the Denver market so hopefully the locals can give you better insight on the specifics but it Looks like there's two sportstalk stations in the Denver/Boulder market.

KKFN-AM - Sportsradio 950 The Fan (http://www.am950thefan.com/home/main.html)-- A mix of local & syndicated talk (Jim Rome, 2 Live Stews). There's a link for streaming audio in the left side menu.

KLZ-AM - ESPN Radio Z560 (http://z560.com/) -- Local morning show, otherwise mostly syndicated ESPN Radio guys (Mike & Mike, Dan Patrick, etc). I don't see a link for live streaming from them, but maybe I'm just missing it.

To be honest I'm not a big fan of the sports radio choices here. I've listened to 950 in the past, but they had "Lou from Littleton" on in the morning and he just wasn't for me. He does the Broncos post game show now on 850 KOA who carry all of the Bronco, Rockies, and CU Buff games. 950 carries the Nuggets and Avalanche.

I currently mostly listen to Z560 when they carry the ESPN programming. I don't like the local guys they have in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon. To be honest, I usually just download the ESPN shows I want to listen to and play them on my iPod when I drive to and from work.

A little bit more on 950. Sandy Clough has been doing sports talk here for 15 years or so. He used to be really harsh, but has softened somewhat...he's a bright guy, but knows it. Irv and Joe have probably been doing sports talk for 25 years or so. I don't really enjoy their show much any more, but I used to listen to them religiously. I just think my tastes have changed.

Dave Logan, the Broncos play-by-play guy, is on 850 KOA in the afternoon and I've always thought he was pretty good.

I believe I read an article in the Rocky Mountain News recently that said Z560 was ending its relationship with ESPN and another station (1600?) was going to pick it up. I'm not sure what 560 will be carrying if that happens.

That's a pretty disjointed overview...like I mentioned I'm mostly a sports-iPod listener these days.

Jon has nailed the two stations down. All things being equal, I prefer 560 most of the time. I actually like the morning crew and they have a fairly good basketball show on once or twice a week. 950 carries the Nuggets and Avs games and does a decent job, but I'm just not really a fan of their hosts.

One thing you need to keep in mind about Denver: This is a PRO sports town. You'll hear some talk of CU and CSU (very little Air Force talk, even when the team is doing well), but the Broncos dominate the broadcasts most of the year. The Avs and Nuggets will sneak in and get their share on occasion, but the Broncos offseason moves will generate as much, if not more talk than a Nuggets or Avs playoff game.

I'm a Red Sox fan and was wondering how about the Rockies? Aren't they popular in Denver or is baseball not big there?
