Apparently they want to focus on the next full iteration of Gran Turismo, rather then updating a previous-gen product for HD (especially since they went with the nutty "Micropayments for everything" idea, where unlocking all the vehicles and tracks would have been a couple hundred dollars.)
They are going to offer a free very limited downloadable release (1 track and 10 or so cars) in Japan, and may do something in America
This was supposed to be one of the attention grabbers for the next gen system, and GT5 isn't going to be released till at least 2008, so this is really interesting.
