I am a sucker for punishment. I haven't ever bought the Clay's football game but have to say the last version of his baseball game is pretty good. I don't expect the game engine to be as accuarte as Jim's but I am actually sort of surprised at the quality of the screenshots(link). This is not FOF but its't Maximum Football either. At least trying the demo might be worthwhile.

I see that he fixed most of the bugs from the last couple of versions and added alot of new fetaures. My favorites are:

-Football Mogul's new Play-By-Play engine gives you complete control over the action whenever you want it.The one-click play-calling interface shows you at-a-glance exactly which formation and which players are involved in each package, so you can best exploit mismatches against each opponent.
-Wind, rain, snow, heat and cold also affect the outcome of each play.
-After each week's games have been played, look over the results to see how your team fared, and how the other teams performed in their matchups.Find out which players had notable games, and see what cumulative stats each team built up.Read about the scoring plays and how the game unfolded. Or for more detail, open the Play by Play report and read about each down of the game to get the full story.
-Do you have a player on your team that you no longer need? With the new Trading Block feature you can find out just what you can get for a him. Poll all the other teams at once, and open negotiations with the GM that makes you the best offer.
-View an entire week's scores at a glance, or click the 'Recap' button for an HTML play-by-play report.

$11.05 for a soda and a stale pretzel that *maybe* has six salt chunks on it. No way. Sadly, this is not making fun of the stats engine. That's probably pretty close to reality. Grrr...

I would steer clear of this game if I were you - or at least wait until a demo was available. I had an earlier version of Football Mogul and it was a great big steaming pile of shite. The new version "may" have improved things but Clay's attention seems to be with Baseball Mogul - the football version uses some of the same code. The only noticeable addition seems to be play-calling but you would think that should have been there from the beginning.

Maybe I spoke to soon. I guess the game /demo was delayed from release yesterday because of get this................. a monitor caught on fire. I got to remeber that one for the real job the next time I fall behind in my work;)
From the mogul board:
Due to "technical difficulties" (literally, a monitor catching on fire), we won't be putting Football Mogul 2007 up for sale tonight. We're hoping to have it available for download on Saturday (December 9th).

I bought a version of this a few years ago and I was dumbfounded at how basic it was. I think I had just come into the EA version of FOF ( Jim had no stock remaining on he prior game ) and was looking for more. Football Mogul wasn't it.

If you expect it to be anything like FOF, you will be so disappointed you may actually break down and shed a few tears for the money you've wasted.

YMWNV (your mileage will not vary)

Sucker here... Bought it this am...

Game shows some promise, but they absolutely HAVE to give us the ability to change the interface colors. I started getting one of those eye strain/car skick-like headaches after about 10 minutes of playing.

Other quick problems I noticed were in the PbP. Things like calling punts kick offs, & referring to defensive penalties as "bringing the play back". Also noticed some odd AI choices in game, like choosing a sideline prevent defense on 1st and 10 from midfield in the 1st quarter.

At this point it could be a waste of $19.95, or it could turn into a fun diversion with a number of patches. We'll see.

It's too bad. I like Clay as a online persona (never met the guy) and think he tries to put out adecent productalbeit longlong development cycle. I do think it is pretty unfair to compare his game to the abortion that is Max Football.

Yeah things seem to be heading in the same direction as Baseball mogul did tons of bugs at release. The game appears like it will be alright in say 6 months of constant patching like 20 patches maybe!
To top this off they release a Demo the other day and get this..... it doesn't have an .exe file even in the download zip file:) lol. I shit you not.

Demo is out and quick notes:

- as stated above no backups don't play and the color schemes are too bright plus that green is god awful ugly IMHO.

- It seems plays that you can call plays in game. The plays available are good but not too many. You get 10 inside runs, 10 outside runs, 10 short pass plays, 10 medium and 10 long pass play choices. Also on defense you get to 10 plays for run, normal and pass defense.
-The one problem all the plays re th same for every team in the league. So that means 30 defnsive plays and about 50 offensive plays to choose from:(
-The PBP is pretty good.
