Who has what and what are pros and cons.
Wife has requested "one of those IPOD like thingys" for Christmas (hell its cheaper than diamonds I am IN!!!)
So who has what and what do you like.
I want something preferably with a large storage capacity (20+G), durable, and user firendly especially the CPU interface...
Really dont wanna buy an Apple, after my recent disaster so what are the best of the other alternatives?

I have a Creative Zen Vision M and it would be perfect if its interaction with my computer wasn't so sluggish when its memory becomes full with music.

I recently bought one of the updated video iPods and am really happy with it, it's a great product and the recent updates have made it easier to use with a new search option, great screen brightness, and it does everything I want it to.

Give her a Zune.
Then blame it on her for not being more specific!

user friendly = ipod, hands down
ive had and loved a creative, but there is simply no comparison for ease of use and overall product. the ipod is the shit. you can pick up the 30 or 40 gig (not sure what the size is now) for $250.

IAudio is great--check out IAudiophile for reviews. They're affordable, robust and play a wide variety of formats with very high quality. I have a G3 IIRC, the X5 has gotten great reviews as well.
I've heard bad things about ipod fragility and other negatives, but I haven't used on myself(I did just get a 30GB model from party poker points store, though).

Totally agree. 30 GB is $249 in the States, 80 is $349.

I just have a basic samsung one and love it. Just drag and drop files. No extra software, etc.

I bought the wife a 30GB Video Ipod (the updated version Gen 5.5) last week and she just loves it. She is not the most technically saavy lady, but I hooked her up with Itunes and set her loose. She has been listening to music, ripping CD's, and watching Heroes episodes with no problem for most of the weekend. I am actually very surprised at how much she likes it and how she has not had to ask for any help on how to use it.

Concur about the iAudio products. I love my G3 for the reasons stated above (multiple formats supported, high sound quality, multi-functionality as many models include FM radio and voice/line recording).
The iAudios can get tempermental at times though...
