As I was thinking about it the last few weeks, I was kinda torn. Sure, Pumpy has a strong case, but after learning more about Mohammed Yunus, I was quietly shifting my support toward him. Alas, Pumpy is a pretty good choice, too.

So the asshole on Death Row who killed twelve people in a one week span is also Time Person of the Year? At least make it "You, no, not you"".

As if the Information Age hadn't already made weekly news magazines with no vision irrelevant already, the editorial staff of Time decides to finish the job of killing itself off.

Congratulations, you're a goddman genius.

I don't mind the choice really. The growing online democracy (if you wish) has been a gradual thing (with wikipedia, youtube, myspace, digg, etc), but growing every year. Nothing really that groundbreaking with the internet this year, so hard to pick someone. Perhaps the "YouTube" guys, or the creator of Wikipedia, could have worked to show the gradual trend of greater individualized choice. But in both of those mediums, the individual is putting things up on those sites and choosing what they want to see. It's actually a pretty intriguing choice to me.

And, it'll sell magazines. I mean look at how many people are talking about this now compared to the regular "Person of the Year" discussions.

Obviously they could have said "The Web Community" or something like that, but "You" is far more attention getting.

These are the type of people they are honoring... kind of hard to pick just one of the many here. Maybe use one as an example and then go on about the democratic approach on the internet?

You knew this whole non-picture posting thing was going to have its drawbacks ;)
