Internet Explorer 7 Installation Problems?

Yesterday, my wife decided to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 by downloading a file that she thinks was on Yahoo. Anyway, it didn't install properly so she says she followed directions and rebooted the computer for it to un-install. She then attempted to re-install and had the same problem so she rebooted. She did this 3 times in total. After the last attempt, when logged into her user profile the computer was doing a variety of odd things but the most prominent is that when she attempts to open Internet Explorer it just comes up as a blank box with no further action. I know this is a long shot, but anyone know what could be wrong?


I ran 2 different virus scanners during the evening and overnight and it doesn't appear to be a virus, hijacker, etc.

I let windows update d/l and install it, might want to go that route.

Yea, I did the same as Mizzou, and I haven't had any issues.

I have no idea what my wife did to mess things up. However, Weds night I did the works on the computer: Defrag, registry cleaning, and a whole bunch of other things as well as going back to a restore point a day or so ago. Anyway, the computer finally started acting "normally" after all of that was done and I'm still not sure what the problem was, but I'm glad that it is apparently fixed.

Now run Windows Update and it should install IE 7.
