Last week of the regular season. Watching the Jags-Chiefs, I am not so sure that David Garrard has sewn up the job the way many people thought earlier this season. Lefwich may not be going anywhere just yet.

I have the same opinion. I don't particularly like the Jags or Chiefs, but watching Gerrard and I can't imagine the Jaguars coming back, unless the Chiefs can't stop the run.

kcchief19

Chiefs winning, Bengals losing, Titans losing ... I'm beginning to believe in miracles. If this keeps up and San Francisco doesn't go all out to beat the Broncos, the entire team will be hunted by Chiefs fans until they are all rounded up and flogged.

I can't believe how bad its gotten for the Cowboys and Giants. Yes, I know that the Giants won last night, but take Tiki Barber away from that team, and they are 4-12 or 3-13. The Cowboys are even more surprising as I felt they had more talent then how they are playing.

Ty Law just picked off a bubble screen pass that was quite impressive. That's supposed to be a fairly safe type of pass. I think it was borderline on whether it was a forward pass or a lateral. He takes it down to the goal line and LJ pounds it in.

Looks like the Chiefs are going to give LJ the carries to break Jamal Anderson's record.

And the Jaguars are getting ready to replace Garrard. Don't know if this is bad or good.

Booj
12-31-2006, 01:59 PM
Quinn Gray is looking pretty good so far...

I'm impressed.

Answer: Bad, because Gray comes in and rolls the Jags down to a quick TD. Ugh.

The Bengals offense looks horrible right now.

Booj
12-31-2006, 02:10 PM
What a bold move by Del Rio either way... with the playoffs on the line. I think that Leftwich is the QB for them either way, but I think Gerrard's tag as "best backup QB" took a hit with his performance today...

Julio Riddols
12-31-2006, 02:12 PM
The Bengals won't even have to worry about the results of the other games. They will not win this one. I've never seen a team play so... lethargically, when the end of their season is on the line.

You have your biggest rivals at home, and can't even LOOK like youre TRYING to win?

What I wouldn't give to talk to the team right now and tell them how weak they are.

I can't get the TN/NE game here, but wow, the Patriots just gave up 45 yards in penalties on one drive according to the PBP?

wow, Quinn Gray is a baller.

kcchief19
12-31-2006, 02:23 PM
Sweet fancy Moses ... Gus Johnson and Steve Tasker are getting ready to put Quinn Gray on Mount Rushmore. Granted, all he's done in (part) of the third quarter is go 7 of 9 for 100 yards and run twice for 26 yards and 2 TDs.

Trent Green got knocked out, Huard came in engineered a TD drive. Green is now back in.

35-24, four TDs in the third quarter. What a game.

kcchief19

Also, I have my doubts as to whether the Lions will need to draft a WR with Mike Furrey sucking up anything within ten yards of the line of scrimmage. He gets about as many receptions as a runningback gets carries.

Ah, who am I kidding. Calvin Johnson does need a home.

For those not stuck in the UK without any TV coverage, did Dallas really just march 80 yards in 2 great plays or are the Lions tanking to avoid losing the first overall pick?

EDIT - never mind then :) Interesting what a Detroit win does to the draft - at number 2 the best value is almost certainly going to be Calvin Johnson

I'm very happy that the Eagles have clinched the NFC East, but I'm sad that they are removing starters so early in the game when I have a few Eagles on 2 different Fantasy Football Teams that are playing in Championship Games. One of them is a money league where I stand to win a substantial amount of money if my team wins.

I'm not a fan of it, but both leagues are with solid guys. I've argued against it in the money league strongly, but have gotten drowned out each time. That being said, it is a league with colleagues only, and I know more about football than most of them it seems, or I'm very lucky. I've won 1st or 2nd place money each of the last 4 years and have only lost money 1 year. So, I can't complain too much.

It will do well just because it is Favre's last game (every though he'll be back next year). He'll through for tons of yards against the Bears B Team and the announcers will drool all over themselves

Denver is not making me happy right now. San Francisco is playing a decent ball game so far, and the Broncos aren't doing anything. If a Denver loss meant that Tennessee or Cincinnati would get into the playoffs, I'd be more content. As a good Broncos fan, though, I hate Kansas City and can't stand to see the Chiefs take that final playoff spot.

Ooh, just as I'm about to finish this post, Mike Bell breaks off a HUGE run. Of course, the last time Denver had first down near the goal line, they got stuffed on three straight plays. I'm not hopeful about this time either.

That was hazy for sure. Clearly it was a fumble. The new rule is that if there is a fumble on a play ruled down by contact and the opposing team clearly recovers the fumble, it's a turnover. Granted, it happen real quick, but it did happen. I wouldn't be surprised if the rule is modified in the offseason to require that the opposing team recover the ball cleanly and "expeditiously."
And now the next review calls that an imcompletion? Stupid refs lol...
That was just a bizarre decision. I'm not sure how they can justify that one. On the bright side, if Denver loses the game their fans can't point to previous play and say they got screwed because they dodged a bullet on that one.

I realize I'm tempting fate by expressing this throught, but I'm somewhat surprised Shanahan is putting the game in the hands of a groggy Cutler instead of the average hands of Plummer. Granted, he's looking better on this drive, but earlier in this half he looked like he didn't know what zip code he was in.

Of course, I'd love to see the Niners try and play some pass defense instead of going into a soft zone. The corners are playing almost 10 yards off the receiver. They allowed Denver to move into the red zone without much of a challenge.

kcchief19

Well, San Francisco played such soft defense that Denver left plenty of time on the clock. Of course, that doesn't really matter since there doesn't seem much of a chance that San Francisco can muster a two-minute drive to get into field goal range.

Exciting day for the bubble teams. I've had to sweat out one OT game already, looks like there might be another.

Niners, hold on to the ball! Don't give this game away!

It was an improbably combination of things that had to happen.

I LOVE the alignmnent of fate for this team right now. We're going to Indianaopolis, who came into Arrowhead and knocked off a 13-3 Bono-led Chiefs in '95 with their 9-7 record and came into Arrowhead three years ago and beat us in the shootout. Combine that with the win one for Lamar attitude this team will have and I love the way things are clicking.

This team has NO expectations, which means they can have nowhere to go but up. We have had no success being the favorite in the playoffos -- let's try being Cinderella for a change.

1. This has been the worst year ever for instant replay. Besides the two blown calls in today's Niner-Bronco game, it seems like there have been a ton of other calls that obviously went the wrong way after review.

2. The Niners have gone from 2-14 to 4-12 to 7-9. With $40M in cap room and ~11 draft picks, it is a foregone conclusion they will be a popular pick to make the playoffs next year. If Alex Smith can make another dramatic leap in development, they could be a very dangerous team. Remember when so many people were absolutely sure he was a complete bust?

3. Second year in a row the Niners win for pride at the end of the year but hurt their draft position. It cost them the chance to draft Reggie Bush last year.

I didn't see that game, but you make it sound like New England had the game wrapped up with a 3-point lead and five minutes on the clock. After what Tennessee has done the past few weeks, you need to keep scoring.

Yep. We're not talking up 24 points with 5 minutes left. As far as I'm concerned, until you are up by 3 scores in the 4th quarter, you keep the pedal to the metal. A quick TD and onside kick is always hanging out there.

Orton gets panicky and confused and starts making mistakes.

Stick a fork int he PATS super bowl hopes. They have lost Rodney Harrison for at least the next two games.

What in the world are you guys talking about? The season ended when Joe Nedney made that field goal in overtime on Sunday. Shouldn't we be talking about the draft or something now?

I think whether the Pats lose a playoff game will have little to do with Harrison out there or not. They are relatively fine without him in the lineup.

It's a minor factor at this point. Or at least one being way overblown.

Actually,

Don't judge a book by it's cover or a person by his origin. You guys got it wrong .I am from Boston but hate the Pats and have been an Oilers/Titans fan for the last 30 years:). And I don't think it was that cheap. The guy is a rookie and Harrison had 40 pounds on the kid and some momentum. I read the play before harrison was raping the kid.

NE isn't done. Look at how weak the AFC field is. Colts? Pfft. Chokers. Jets? Nothing to say there. Chargers? Worst postseason coach in NFL history. Ravens? No ground game + chump regular season schedule = early playoff exit.

And looking at all the chumps in the NFC bracket ... and my god are they weak ... NE should be the odds on favorite of winning it all, with or without HALF their roster. The only other team I see having a chance is the Saints and possibly the Eagles, the rest are cream puffs.
