No plans for tonight so I'll be hanging out at home. I got Ghostbusters on (Comedy Central) as I get ready to play some FOF.

Anyone else just hanging out at home, or am I the only loser? :)

The last time I came home after dark on New Years' Eve, it was when SWMBO and I went to dinner, and then to see "As Good As It Gets," in the theater. I'm fairly sure it was the early show, too. ;) Going to check what year that was now...

I do not have any plans for the evening. I do not feel like going and battling the crowds or drunks in downtown so I think I will just watch a movie or play around on the new Xbox Live.

I remember seeing that in the theater with a few people I haven't seen in 8-9 years.

I've only "been out" on New Year's Eve a few times (a few other times, the party was where I already was, ie. the girlfriend's house). Last year, I went to a really "white trash" party in Pitman (for you NJ people who know the town I'm talking about...). I've never been a big "go our on New Year's Eve" person.

Watching Rome on DVD. There is a bottle of vodka here, but now that I realize how pathetic my life is, I'm to depressed to even get drunk.

That doesn't sound like the amdaily we all know and love. :D

I watched Rome (got the DVDs a little while back) and loved it.

I'm actually stranded in Santa Fe. The big blizzard that came through a day or so ago dropped three feet of snow on my house, and we have no power or phone. So I'm hanging out at the hotel I work, waiting for my girlfriend to call me to pick her up at the clinic she works at. We'll probably bring in the new year with a bang.

We just ordered pizza, I'm flipping between the blah blah blah bowl and the packers game ( I threw a few bucks on both to make it interesting) The miss is in her PJ's already and jusy cracked a bottle of wine, I am sipping a beer, playing FOF and content as all hell. The woman is reading people and laying on the couch.

We asked each other if we are losers and wondered if we should walk to the bar down the road. We decided we aren't into celebrating with a bunch of drunk strangers and would rather enjoy each others company.

So I just got home from a nice new years party with a bunch of friends.. nothing intense, just good food, nice wine some champagne to celebrate the new year.. while I realize this is not what this thread is about, I'm technically home before midnight your guys' time.. so eh.. I'm celebrating new year's at home :)

Part of the reason I'm home too. I could have headed to my friend's house who is just staying home as well, but he lives in Manayunk (Philadelphia), very close to where all of the bars are. Like I need to drive through that clusterfuck twice tonight.

Strange. The Johnny Carinos all around us went bankrupt a few months ago. How they went bankrupt I have no idea other than mismanagement or stealing from the till. They always seemed busy.

The leader of a bankrupt Johnny Carino's franchisee committed suicide last month, complicating a messy $30 million reorganization effort in Austin.

Mark Day, who headed the Sandia Food Group of businesses that controlled 13 Carino's restaurants in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, killed himself July 19, just weeks before his restaurant empire filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Aug. 4.

The franchisee's parent company, Fired Up Inc., is based in Austin. The franchisee's bankruptcy doesn't affect Johnny Carino's 76 corporate-owned stores or the other 80-plus operated by other franchisees.

Of the 13 restaurants pulled into bankruptcy court, three are in El Paso. The others are in New Mexico and Arizona.

Day's death left Sandia Food Group's managers and lawyers scrambling to reorganize the restaurant group without its leader, while still getting the bills paid.

"He was the primary driving force behind the promotion" of Sandia's restaurants, says Austin bankruptcy lawyer Patty Tomasco with Brown McCarroll LLP, who is handling the bankruptcy. "I would think he was the figurehead."

Without Day leading the company through the bankruptcy, she says, "you do have a bit of a headless horseman problem," Tomasco says.

She says she and Sandia's business partners spent days trying to untangle the farmers-knot of companies responsible for its operations and get their approval before filing for bankruptcy.

The bankruptcy filings reflect that complexity, with a mother lode of bankruptcy petitions for the 19 different entities that made up Sandia Food Group.

But, because "it's almost impossible" to distinguish their debts from one another, Tomasco says, she expects the bankruptcy court will consolidate them into one case.

"It's a triage effort," she says. "You have to take the most serious needs and deal with those, and that's what we've done."

First off, that means making sure Sandia's 900 employees get paid.

So Tomasco recently filed an opening salvo of motions to get the court to let the group crack open its bank accounts for payday, despite the reality that it owes massive amounts of money to the Internal Revenue Service, the state of Texas, and Fired Up.

This will be our first year at home in years....

My wife had a splitting Headache all day yesterday. Got so bad that we ended up going to the Hospital about 1 o'clock in the Morning. Come to find out she has viral meningitis, so she will be laid up for a few days, taking Steroids and painkillers while the virus runs it's course.

So it will be an evening of watching the Twilight Zone Marathon and her getting pampered and I have to say, that minus her being sick, this is actually preferable to our original plans for me (Celebrating at a new Club that opened close to us)

Also VERY grateful it was nothing more serious as they were worried about an anuerysm when we got to the Hospital.

Is food bad there? I had never eaten there until this tour I went on for the new job and ended up eating there a few times. All we would ever get is the Soup and Salad, which seemed fine to me. Hard to mess those up though.

Well, I stopped getting drunk, for the most part, when I was 19. I rediscovered it with the new job and being on tour with a group of guys who I found worthy of naming a couple of them friends. Now, I would have posted every time I was drunk or atleast buzzed while on tour, but I didn't always have internet. It depended on what hotel we were staying in and if their wireless was crap or not. I will try next tour.

With 4 kids under the age of 9, we have stayed home on new years for about 10 years now.

Back in the day - new years eve was a big party night

Now, there is no where I would rather be then home with my family.

Not to mention, this is not the night to be out on the road at all.

Went to "The Melting Pot" for dinner with the gf and got back in around 8:00. She's sleeping as I just killed off two games in my 76er dynasty on XBox360. Plan to wake her groggy and cranky ass up in about 15 minutes (hopefully for some "real" fireworks).

I worked all day, but when I got home around 9:30 the wife had dinner waiting for me and we watched Rome on HBO on Demand. Had a few beers with dinner, and then we had some champagne around midnight...

Our quiet night was interrupted by a huge amount of fireworks on our block. They started going off around 9 and were going to about 12:30. Insane how much people must have paid as they were a wide variety of "good" fireworks with lots of nice effects. A few friends decided to drop by at the last minute and they bought fireworks, so we contributed to the neighborhood light show.

Interestingly, around noon, we and our guests all decided to go to IHOP and just after we got there, our neighbors from either side showed up all independantly. Considering, Baton Rouge is a city of about 700-800k people right now and there are hundreds of restaurants this was quite a coincidence. What was even more odd was our neighbors and a couple that were sitting at the table next to ours at the IHOP all showing up at the movie theater (there are 3 or 4 theaters within a few miles that they could have gone to instead) within a few minutes of each other after we arrived.

The girlfriend and I were looking for a quieter NYE than last year, when we were at a club in Atlantic City with a bunch of my friends. So we just decided to be losers and stayed in at her place.

Made some appetizers, cooked dinner (I was outside grilling steaks, on December 31st, at 8 pm in New Jersey, wearing just a sweatshirt and jeans...unreal weather), watched Nacho Libre, had plenty of drinks throughout the night, with a bottle of champagne at midnight. Then we had some festivities for a couple hours that left me very worn out today.

Honestly, it was so much better than any recent NYE, and not just because of that last part.

Now that it is dark here, there are a large number of fireworks going off over our lake again! I knew there would be fireworks last night, but didn't think a large number would be going again tonight.
