So, how many of you are in a Super Bowl pool that is a 10x10 grid, with random numbers 0-9 assigned once each to both teams... and if so, what numbers do you have, how much is in your pool, and what are the payouts?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're probably not in one. :)

Personally, I'm in one...

I have 2 squares at $5 each, which makes for a $500 total pool, $125 per quarter. It was $3 per square last year, and I hit the halftime score to make 75 bucks.

My numbers this year:

Bears 1
Colts 8

OR

Bears 2
Colts 5

I think we can all agree I have very little shot this year unless it is a high scoring affair with few field goals.

I run these every year.

One thing I do differently is I change where the teams are. The team with the winning score is on the top and the losing team is on the side.

So, clearly 0, 7, & 3 are good numbers to have, as those are very likely numbers to end scores of any quarters, especially the 1st and 2nd Q's.

Also, 1 and 4 aren't too bad for a bit later in the game.

But I think 5, 6, 9, 8, and 2 are near universal dogs. 8 is probably the best of these, as 28 is a very realistic score to hit later in the game, but these other numbers are mostly crap.

Alright, I guess I'm done rambling about the SB Squares pool.

When I used to run them it was all random. I ran these and the football pool every year; this was when we watched SportCenter on a daily basis and I actually knew my stuff. I probably knew more than anyone in the company (small company yes) and I never, not once won.

Although one year I got a cool Chargers gift from one of the participants that won the big one which was pretty cool.

2 and 5 are the worst numbers to get, good luck with that Butter.

Yeah, I'm not holding out much hope this year. But maybe we squeeze a safety in here and there... more likely with the Bears defense and Grossman on the field. Who knows? Or even 15-12 with Vinatieri nailing the winner sounds good. But yeah, I'm just contributing to others' winnings on those #'s.

I'm in my usual pool.. $100 per square = $10000 pool of money. . $2500 to the final score holder. Every score change, the person that holds those #'s gets a share. The remaining $7500 is divided among the share holders..

So, Indy TD 6-0, PAT 7-0, Chicago TD 7-6, Chicago PAT 7-7 would mean 6-0, 7-0, 7-6 and 7-7 are winners..

2/2, 5/5, 9/9 are automatic shareholders and the first downs at the end are a shareholder...

There was one I was in last year, it was a 10,000 square pool @ $5 a square. It consisted of a master grid of 100 squares and a secondary grid of 100 squares. You would look at the final number for NFC/AFC on the master grid and that square dictated which bar had the winning square. Then, on the bars sheet, each row/column instead of having a number from 0-9 would have a number from 0-99 and there would be 10 numbers. Then you cross reference and that was the winner. They had the numbers from 0-99 because they paid out for damn near everything.. penalty yards, return yards, first downs, passing yards, etc, etc... like 50 different ways to win...

So, passing yards AFC - 298, NFC - 251.. you reference AFC 8, NFC 1 and then look for whomever had AFC 98, NFC 51....

$10/square.
Payouts $200/200/200/400

Our numbers increase by 2 for every quarter. For example, you draw Colts 5, Bears 2. First Qtr points follow those on the sheet. Second quarter, your numbers are now Colts 7, Bears 3. Third quarter, your numbers are Colts 9, Bears 5. And so on...

My two squares:

Colts 8 - Bears 1
Successive quarters: C0,B3 C2,B5 C4,B7

Colts 5 - Bears 7
Successive quarters: C7,B9 C9,B1 C1,B3
