Adults mess up, kids get punished

Although more of a local story, I thought people might be interested. The best girls high school basketball team in New Jersey has been banned from the state tournament because its coach scheduled one more game than allowed.

Bad situation, but I guess the rules are the rules. It's neither the first nor last time something like this will happen. It's especially sad to see because the team is such a source of pride to the school and even to the city of Newark.

When I saw the preview for this thread, I swore it could have been my old high school (Marlboro...although I'm guessing they're not as good as they were a few years back).

If it was my school though, it would be rightful punishment...since the coach recruited 2 girls to the town so an entire AAU team could play together for 4 years. The girls and their lower-income families had houses rented for them within the district.

High school girls basketball, this is done in. Sick.
