People think the BBC got a press release 20 minutes before World Trade Center 7 collapsed and accidently reported it early, proving a conspiracy. Are there really that many people out there who really think this was a multinational conspiracy, and media outlets were in on it?

We no longer have the original tapes of our 9/11 coverage (for reasons of cock-up, not conspiracy).
So they are not conspirists, just horny blokes?

I'll admit to being a little behind the times, but after reading this....
Do (some)Brits think we(Americans) flew planes into the buildings and planted explosives in WT7?
Or am I reading this wrong?
Some Americans think that too. Yes, there are this many nuts in the world. It is sickening.

There were also explosives in the WTC buildings proper

None of it happened, it was all generated by the matrix.

Have you heard of the New World Order conspiracy? Left Wing/Right Wing conspiracy? European conspiracy?
I could go on but yes, there are that many nuts in the world.

You mean Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, Kevin Nash and Razor Ramon? I'm vaguely familiar.

The existence of Operation Northwoods doesn't help, though.

This is just a variation on the JFK theme about the assassination being reported half a world away before it occurred - if I'm recalling the Donald Sutherland sequence of the movie correctly. There was something supposedly reported early - either the assassination itself, or Oswald's involvement, something like that, that alleged proved the assassination was planned and there was a concerted effort to make Oswald the fall guy.

Yes, there are that many nuts. There are people who believe the planes were three-dimensional holograms.
(And there are also people who will refuse to call that nonsense because they have an "open mind".)

Even before reading a single post in this thread, I knew that I would be able to answer the question in the subject heading affirmatively.
It is not possible to overestimate the number of nuts in the world.

Bah, that plan goes farther back then that. See: USS Maine.

OK, but for argument's sake let's assume the US government would attack it's own citizens to create support for a war.
Do we really think this is how they'd do it? A massive conspiracy that would require the co-operation of thousands of people? Hijacked planes, wiring up the buildings in advance with explosives, getting a missle to fire at the pentagon... They wouldn't just detonate a bomb in a city and be done with it? And in all that planning, they'd somehow forget to pin the blame on the country they wanted to attack? Really? People believe this?
I'm fine with being cynical and suspicious of your government. But the 9/11 conspiracy theories are so far-fetched and ridiculous that at some point you just have to assume that the people who believe them are self-deluded, selling something, or just very stupid. I can't think of a fourth option.

Yes, but Operation Northwoods actually talks about the hijacking and destruction of airplanes full of passengers (or at least airplanes that were supposed to be full of passengers). Some of you want to go off on these "crackpots" and such, but some of these ideas were actually proposed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff over 40 years ago to encourage support for a war against Cuba. If they were willing to write up these proposals to drum up support for a war against Cuba, why not against some other boogeyman that they've been wanting to eliminate?
I'm not saying I believe any of these conspiracy theories, but Operation Northwoods is fact. If the Joint Chiefs of Staff were once considering those kinds of things as leigitimate to get us to go to war against Cuba, what would somebody in the government do to get us to go to war against somebody that they really wanted us to go after? Like Saddam? Like Osama? Who knows? It certainly reveals that they aren't likely to be the saints that some of you would like them to be.

I'm just saying the existence of Operation Northwoods only helps fuel the conspiracy theorists. It certainly doesn't help the government's position.
At best/worst, I can imagine a rogue element of the government looking the other way and sitting on knowledge of the 9/11 events coming because it would help them fulfill other goals they've needed support for.
I do have a hard time believing it all would have originated from within the government, though.

I read part of a book about the conspriacy behind 9-11. (Obviously it was so ridiculous that I put it down after a few chapters) There was one interesting part though. They said that all four of those flights were always booked full or nearly full every time they flew and for some reason they were all half empty that day. I don't know what to say to that one. I hardly blame the US government but I often wonder how that makes any sense.
(Of course it is also possible that the flights weren't always full and the writer of the book took huge liberties in exaggerating that. But that seems to be easily proved one way or the other.)

Weren't these flights early morning Tuesday flights? I find it hard to believe they were always full or even nearly full.
