I'm on the button with about 5,500 chips. Average stack is at 3200. 700 or so players left. Long way from the money. Blinds are 200/400

The guy first to act is a solid player who has been making "standard" plays all tournament. 3x the BB on solid hands, things like that. He has a stack of 7k and has me covered.

He opens with a 2400 chip bet. Everyone folds to me. I have T/T.

My read on him is A/K, likely suited. I'm rarely dead certain on hands, but every bone in my body says he has big slick.

Do I toss the hand away or push?

Ugh. Your M is about 8. AK suited versus 1010 is a coin flip.

There's 3000 in the pot, but none of it's yours.

if you push, there's probably about 10K in the pot.

I'm saying.. Fold. Your M is still good, you don't have anything invested in the hand, and there should be better opportunities down the line then a probable coinflip (if you're certain on the read)

Looks like Jacks or Queens to me. I fold.

I did fold. And he showed the cards. A/K of clubs.

I ended up in the money for the tourney, finishing 75th.

If you know for sure it's AK, you push. You're a flip and probably have a little bit of fold equity.

But of course you don't know for sure, even if you wound up being right. I think you're behind his range of hands here enough to let it go.

I fold. Chances are the buyin and comparative chips stacks are low enough where fold equity=zero.
