2007 Ultimate Patsy Contest

Ultimate Patsy

Lots of New England Patriots fans here, so I thought this would be kind of cool. You can win the Title of "The Ultimate Patsy of FOFC" by scoring the highest total of points in this quiz about the New England Patriots franchise.

Rules: Don't look things up. Not on the net, or in books, or anywhere else. Don't ask anybody else the answers - not your wife, your dog or your father-in-law, no one. There's no way to enforce the rules, so it's strictly an honor code thing. The idea is to test your knowledge of all things Pats, not your ability to google. ;)

All entries are do by PM to me by 11:59 EST Monday, March 12, 2007.
Don't post your answers in this thread or others will copy them.

Please do post in this thread that you've answered by PM.

Now, onto the Ultimate Patsy.

1 Pointers (5/100 points total)

1. What is the nickname of the old Patriots Mascot/logo?

What is the third geographic location they were once called?

4. In 1976 the Patriots made the playoffs as a wildcard team and were beating the eventual world champion Oakland Raiders late in the game when a controversial roughing the passer call was made against a New England defensive player that changed the momentum of the game and ultimately allowed the Raiders to score and win. Name that player. Two points for his real name, another point for his nickname, and a fourth point if you can name the referee who made the call and was later prevented by the NFL from ever working another Patriots game again.

Bonus Points: The I'm With Zolak (IWZ) Game
I'm with Zolak is basically a version of the I'm With Stupid game. The idea is not to be correct, but to have the most common answer among all entrants. Bonus points will be awarded based on how many other entrants give the same answer as you. You will be awarded the same amount of bonus points as the number of people, yourself included, that answer the same way you do. You are thus guaranteed at least 1 bonus point.

The question: Name the best Patriots Quarterback not named Brady.
Select one answer from below.

A. Drew Bledsoe
B. Scott Zolak
C. Steve Grogan
D. Tony Eason
E. Matt Cavanaugh
F. Jim Plunkett
G. Doug Flutie

Hope this was fun!

Cheers.

I'm no Patriots fan, so I guess I'm not surprised that I could only completely answer maybe 4 of those questions correctly.

I don't think I could do that many outside of maybe some sort of super-lucky guess.

Full questions? I probably nailed 4 or 5. I'd have a ton of point on partials. I know three of the four RB's picked in the first round and 4 of the 6 players who played at one of the national title game schools for example.

o/~ Crazy, I'm crazy for feeling so lonely
I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you'd leave me for somebody new
Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wond'ring what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you. o/~

Hrrm. It may simply be that I am getting too old or have no life.

Or both.

Or both.

I never lived in Boston so I had to follow the team from afar (since 1978). It seems if you lived there and were constantly bombarded by Pats related events, more trivia would stick with you.

For instance, I remember the locker room reporter harassment, but not the reporter's name, (and it was tough enough remembering Zeke's name). It's on the tip of my tongue, and with a multiple choice list I would get it. Or the names of all the stadiums. My trivia knowledge is more related to player stats and performances on the field post 1978 or so. This contest had a lot of sideshow/non performance stuff.
