Richard Jeni, a standup comedian who played to sold-out crowds, was a regular on the "Tonight Show" and appeared in movies, died of a gunshot wound in an apparent suicide, police said Sunday.
Police found the 45-year-old comedian alive but gravely injured in a West Hollywood home when they responded to a call Saturday morning from Jeni's girlfriend, Los Angeles Police Officer Norma Eisenman said.
Wow, Just wow.

Wow... I figured he was a bit older than 45.
I don't know much about his career of late, but oddly enough, my brother used to do an imitation of him, from an old commercial, that would always crack me and my friends up.
RIP Richard Jeni.

I got a few good laughs at his jokes back in the day... and a few regarding his dropping completely out of sight. :( It's sad that when I called him out to some people recently they had no recognition of who he was...
Rest in peace... :(

His last HBO special seemed angrier than normal to me. It's a shame that his girlfriend had to be there to witness what he felt driven to do to himself.

Damn I remember me and a friend seeing his first (I think) HBO special in college, and a few lines became inside jokes for years.
RIP indeed
