..Is Modest Mouse's new album coming out on March 20th. I illegally downloaded because it is my wish that all musicians starve to death.

With that said, I've listened to it quite a bit over the past week or so. Definitely better than Good News.... I liked the last album, but I definitely feel this album is quite a bit better. The opener "March Into The Sea" recalls "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine" from Lonesome Crowded West. Their knack for writing catchy, odd songs hasn't waned at all. Listen to "We've Got Everything" or "Missed The Boat". Their knack for writing hobo epics is still in place. Listen to "Spitting Venom". The album really doesn't ever lag. I'm interested to find out what public response is, both from the snotty scene kids, and the mainstream audience.

Has anyone heard it, or will anyone buy it when it comes out?

Frankly, I'm surprised that people no longer try to hide that they're pirating music or software or whatever. I understand that people do it, but didn't those folks used to pretend that they had gotten a legal copy somehow?

It will be a day one purchase for me.

Loss of American cultural values, Pumpy. Nowadays folks are boldly unashamed of their lawbreaking, as opposed to the good old days where they just kept it hypocritically secret.

I'll most likely pick it up when it comes out. Johnny Marr is now a part of the group, right? After listening to the album, do you think his involvement has changed the band's sound at all?

I'm gonna buy it when it comes out. I guarantee I've given more of my money to the music industry then anything else I've ever done, so I don't feel bad for downloading something that I can't buy anyway. I have 531 songs on my I-Pod, and 97% of those are songs that I ripped from my CD collection. If you wanna call me out and say I have no morals, then I hope you sleep well because of it.

Frankly, I'd be happy to pay now for what I have as opposed to waiting for the future date at which the owners have decided they would like to be paid, but I don't have that option.

I also feel sorry for those owners that people like Karl and me provide free pre-hype for their upcoming releases. That really sucks for them. Especially when we alert people of the upcoming release, say we like it, and then still spend our money to buy the official release.

In the grand scheme of things, that's a bad deal for record companies, obviously.
