I wish I was younger.
I'm just too slow to play RTS games anymore. Too much mouse clicking and nonsense.

Command and Conquer is one of the best series ever made.

I also bought both on Friday. Have been working my way through C&C3. Definitely a good entry in the series, though I have only played one of the two main campaigns so far (nearly done with it. Have 2 or 3 missions left).

C&C 3 is insane. I love the cutscenes. The gameplay's great, and it doesn't tax your PC because of the frame-rate cap. Campaign Missions usually take 20 to 45 minutes to complete.
Supreme Commander is by far one of the most massive RTS games I've played. Pretty deep. I've only played one campaign mission so far, and it took me nearly 2 hours. Yeesh. I love the map... how you can just zoom out and automatically convert to a "tactical view" of the entire battlefield. Robots kick ass. :)

dola. I bought the C&C3 Kane edition. Basically a collector's ed. Only 100,000 copies apparently. Was also given a bagful of C&C goodies by the store where I purchased it. (poster, shirt, cap, tumbler, napsack).
As a note, Jennifer Morrison plays your GDI "advisor" throughout the game. Which I found rather nice (since I always watch House). Oh, and I love the fact that Billy Dee Williams (Lando of star wars fame) is one of the GDI higher-ups. :)

If you've got the machine to handle it, you can put a zoomed-out map on a second monitor...
