Thirteen-year-old Morgan Pozgar of Claysburg, Pa., was crowned LG National Texting champion on Saturday after she typed "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" from Mary Poppins in 15 seconds.
"I'm going to go shopping and buy lots of clothes," the teen said after winning her $25,000 prize from the electronics company LG.
Pozgar defeated nearly 200 other competitors to become East Coast champion and then beat West Coast champion Eli Tirosh, 21, of Los Angeles.
She estimated that she sends more than 8,000 text messages a month to her friends and family.
My daughter is 3....but in 10 years, if she's sending 8,000 texts a month, we've got problems.

I hope they have an unlimited texting plan on their service or they are going to be using some of the 25K to pay for their little girls indulgence.

I read somewhere that texting vs. email has become the biggest indicator of the generation gap now. Basically, anyone over 30, even if they are technically savvy, uses email first and rarely, if ever, texts, while younger people still use email but almost always prefer texting. I find that to be true. I've never sent a text message in my life and don't even understand the difference between texting and email. I've been sending emails from my phone for several years and find it pretty easy. I don't get why texting is such a big draw.

Having two step daughters and hearing their friends talk, the obvious one I can think of why the 'younger' generation uses texting instead of emails is, as parents, you can track your kids' emails and kids know that, so I can see why kids will use their phones to communicate rather than by email. Other than requesting the transcripts of texts from a cell phone, I know of no instant way (other than looking at the phone itself) to review text messages.
That's just my guess though and I could be completely wrong.
