QBs on roster

One of my MP leagues has entered the playoffs, but my team didn't make it. I would like to cut one of my quarterbacks (chad pennington, if you must know), but the game says that if i export the file, that the CPU would add a QB to my roster. My question is, when can I cut this guy without having the cpu sign someone? I thought i would be safe now since you can't add players in the offseason. I don't want to enter next season with him on the roster (although it wouldn't be the end of the world because i'm way under the cap).

The game will only do that to you if it has to sim a game involving your team. This is how people don't worry about their depth charts during preseason week 1, for example.

So you should be fine.
