From the EGM that came in the mail today:

Final Fantasy Tactics A2- Winter 2007 (DS)
"This [i]Final Fantasy Tactics Advance[i] sequel skimps on graphics but delivers on gameplay...yet the lack of touch panel play is odd."

My Thoughts:
Please, please don't suck like FFTA did. Please don't have a god-awful storyline and whatever you do, throw out the contrived ass Judges system!

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions - Fall 2007 (PSP)
"If you missed the PS1 original, this remixed, expanded, and newly multi-player remake will make you a believer."

My Thoughts:
 Multiplayer FFT?! That's freaking awesome! The remixed has me a little leery that they'll take out the great Engrish phrases of the original or screw with the graphics, but the expanded has me cautiously optimistic. New character classes? Alternate endings? (My biggest hope so it has replay value). In any case, an absolute must-buy. FFT the original... portable... oh so good.

FFT: War of the Lions is a great remake to the PSX game. Additional cutscenes were also added. Cel-shaded, and oh so good to watch.

Here's a little screenshot of a cutscene from the game.

Just in case you've got weak eyes... that's Ramza right there.

The cutscenes kick ass. Check out the website.

dola, just watching the trailer scenes and listening to the old score makes the hair on the back of my neck raise up. That was one heck of a game.

Not so sure how I feel about cel-shaded cutscenes. To me, the 2D sprites that they used for cut scenes were in a way much more effective than above, but we'll see.

Oh, the cutscenes are awesome. You know the character portraits you keep on staring at in the game? THAT'S EXACTLY HOW THEY LOOK. :)

Ah, in that case, my fears are alleviated :)

I do hope they expand it beyond cutscenes and MP, though. I'd love to have more character classes, alternate story branches, and/or more options for character classes... like being able to make Ramza a Dark Knight.

And I really, really hope they don't change the text.

After all, "Master of all swords, cut energy! Night Sword!" and similiar blurbs were awesome :)

did I mention... full voice acting for all the cutscenes/videos?

I hope subtitles will be an option... I hate voice acting :)

What's a DS? Any chance of some FF or FFT game coming out on PC?

Nintendo's handheld.

I can't imagine there being a PC release. The PC releases they did of 7 and 8 were pretty bad. I think they're done with that.

For FFTA, yeah..if they'd just get rid of the Judge system it would bring me a long ways toward liking it more. I'll play it regardless though, who am I kidding. :)

I'm still baffled as to why they haven't released a true sequel to FFT. They broke almost everything I liked about the game in FFTA so it's really hard for me to get excited about A2, and I'm definitely not buying a PSP to play a remake of a game I got for $15 in the first place.

I feel your pain, believe me, thoug I already have a PSP.
