It appears there's an award called the "Hummer Like Nothing Else Award". You can vote for it on the ESPN homepage now.

dola, and I would not consider any of their candidates for a hummer. Hopefully they announce the best finish winner right after.

What's funny is, they chose a female college softball player over Lorena Ochoa, Candice Parker and Lisa Leslie for best female athlete. That's what you get when you let the fans choose the winners. I'd heard of her. She's good and all, but...what?

That and the fact that they'd show them on TV well after they'd already happened in real life. But..it figures.

Taryn Mowatt is a hell of an athlete. She pitched every inning of the College World Series and pitched 370 innings in 54 games. I was surprised that she won over Lisa Leslie, but not that surprised.

I don't doubt that. I just don't think that's what was the deciding factor when most chose to vote.

A couple of good shots at Kobe from Kimmel....

1. A lot of people just had babies. Tiger Woods had a baby. Lebron James had a baby. The Lakers still have Kobe Bryant.

2. Kobe just asked to be traded to another award show.

Ouch. Was Kobe there? I didn't watch the whole show.

I had forgotten that the show was even on. I wonder why they switched from airing it live to airing it four days later. I still listen to Jim Valvano's famous ESPY speech, and I'm trying to imagine how that would've gone if it hadn't been aired live. I'm sure they wouldn't have clipped any of his speech, but they probably would've just cut other parts of the show. I know people hate when awards shows run way too long, but to me, that's just how awards shows operate. It seems even sillier when they're taped and then (presumably) edited down to fit into a time block.

Maybe I'm just angry at ESPN right now. I was watching the PBA All-Star Shootout yesterday, and they actually cut a few minutes from the Tony Reyes/Robert Smith vs. Wes Malott/Tommy Jones match because World Cup softball ran long. My wife and I are big fans of Tony Reyes, and Tommy Jones is always entertaining, and I was not happy that ESPN trimmed out the middle of the match.

Somehow I saw some of the bowling. It was fabulous that they were bowling in a parking lot.

Yes, that was terrific. Even in the parking lot, Parker Bohn III was as smooth as ever. I think I have a crush on Parker Bohn III.

The 12 spectators on hand had to be impressed with Bohn as well.
