Be sure to start a 25 page OOTP5 Thoughts and Discussion again. ;) This time I might buy the game, if I can get the faster internet connection.

Seeing as though I enjoyed OOTP4, I'm sure this game will not disappoint me. As for others...?

You have to start though SkyDog. It just wouldn't be right if someone else started it. :)

I don't know what you guys are seeing but the website my browser finds says it will be available March 2003, with no specific date.

I hope their football game looks as good as the OOTP. I don't even like playing baseball sims but that one almost makes me. :D

I think OOTP4 is the best sports sim I've ever played (and I've played quite a few). It sure looks like version 5 is a big step forward, so I'm pretty stoked.
My one request is that I hope it is more difficult than v4. Right now, I have to institue quite a few house rules to make it interesting (but this is a pretty common problem with sports sims).

OOTP is the best? try CM my man, try CM

Good point. I haven't played that one yet, even though many people claim it rocks. I don't have any interest whatsoever in soccer, though. For that reason, I've held off. Part of me thinks I may enjoy it anyway, but I'm waiting for the demo before I give it a try.

I really like the looks of the new HTML reports and the almanac feature. I want my league history well organized. If these deliver as promised, I'll be happy.

Yeah, I bought my copy as well last night.
I like .400 products so far, cuz I know that if there is some serious issue, they will always release a patch to fix it.
I looking forward to playing OOTP5.

Two words : More Stats !!!!
I read this game will keep career playoff stats as well as career minor league stats. Thats awsome!! nothing like looking at the stats of a career minor leaguer or the career playoff stats of a vet superstar.

I hadn't seen mention of this feature yet. That's goign to actually make me consider getting OOTP5.
I'm going to hold off until I see how the feature is implemented, but it's a step in the right direction.
Now if Markus adds the 40-man roster and real waiver claims, I'll be first in line.
Ksyrup
02-28-2003, 07:14 AM
I think the only step in those directions is an option to allow veterans to refuse assignment to the minors. I think it needs to go further, but that's a step.
Also, arbitration is in the game, at least as far as I know. Rather than having a "hearing" and all of that, I think an arbitrator sets a salary automatically. Not sure how this works, though - whether it replaces a portion of the previous 5 years/$100K contract or comes after the 5 years, how well it takes into account performance in determining the arbitration salary, etc. We'll just have to see.

I really hope the release is better than TDCB's horrible release.

Actually it sounds like he's not doing much himself. He just said he's about to call Markus. If there are any problems that look to last more than a few more minutes, he says he'll give me an announcement to post over here.
