Blackhawks Owner Bill Wirtz Dies

Was never a big fan of his, however he did help Hockey a lot in the 70's. Maybe now the Blackhawks home games will be televised on TV.

Not a big fan of his either, really no Blackhawk fans were.

But earlier today I saw a guy wearing a Blackhawks jersey and on the back he had black tape which spelled out "Finally He's Dead."

Thought that was pretty low class.

Pretty much every sports radio show I heard today had similar low-class reactions. I didn't really know anything about him.

I'm guessing this would be the reaction if Jeremy Jacobs (owner of the Bruins) died.

Not a big fan either, but I'm not about to go cheering for a dead guy. Tho there is a lot to the argument that he's a big reason why the franchise has been so bad for so long.

Back when I decided to get into the NHL I was old enough to realize that this guy was destroying my local franchise. The new owner can get me to buy in by doing two simple things:

1.) Televise the games. This policy over the last 20+ years was sheer idiocy.
2.) Get Pulford out of the organization once and for all.

Do this and I'll start rooting for the home team. It seems pretty simple, but these two steps would go a very long way to repairing the damage that I perceive to have been wrought upon the franchise by Wirtz over the last 15+ years that I have sort of, kind of, paid attention to hockey.

I was never a fan of him, but I just found out (literally moments ago) that I work with his daughter, who I think is an excellent teacher.
