My wife and daughter just left for a weekend in Hampton to visit her father and family. I'm still nursing a bad back and a crushed ego (over getting laid-off) so I'm staying at home by myself for the next 3 days. What on earth am I to do? :D

If it wasn't for your bad back I'd say that moving can be an experience that can be fun for the whole family (especially when they get back and find an empty house!)

I think there are some football games on this weekend.

:)If my old work pals in Chicago had scored playoff tickets, I'd be there now. In retrospect, watching my Cubs get swept out of the playoffs by the worst hitting team in the league wouldn't have been much fun.

I haven't heard in a while but your wife is all better? She's getting there. The psychiatrist, my wife, and I are working on getting her meds balanced out so she can function and still avoid the possibility of getting manic again. The doc recently took her off the Depakote, so she's less tired, less unfocused, and becoming more expressive and happy - but it's making me nervous since it's a fine line.
Overall, she's feeling much better, and I'm feeling much better about her.
Thanks for asking!

It's not a perfect analogy, but I often use the analogy of Diabetes for Bipolar illness when talking to my patients about it. They are both chronic illnesses. They both require long term meds. With Diabetes if you get too strict of control of the glucose that can lead to problems as well with hypoglycemia. Same with mania. If you overdo the meds to control mania, the side effects can easily lead to the depression that is already part of the illness as well as the cognitive side effects of the meds. It is a fine balancing act at times, but life can be great once the balance is achieved with both illnesses. I'm glad to hear things are gong reasonably well for your wife. :)
Enjoy your weekend.

I smell one last FM2007 marathon-hurrahw00t! I'm almost through 2010 with Peterhead - swapped from the Scottish 2d Division to the English Conference North - and I qualified for the English Conference National playoffs this season, with a new stadium to be completed this offseason that holds 10K. I'm simultaneously managing DC United in my Premier League of America, and we've fallen on hard times, missing the top half for 3 seasons now. Dan Snyder is not happy with me.

I THOUGHT I heard the sound of fapping off in the distance earlier today.

Geez man, what kind of advice are you looking for exactly? Maybe play with a nipple during or something, I dunno.
