So I've played through 10 seasons or so in 6.1 and I wondered about AI Salary Management vs. Human Salary management.
When a player asks for a new salary I analyze how much I'm currently paying them, and how much they want in the future. If I expect the player is going to improve in future years I try to sign a longer term contract. I usually give them a larger bonus to decrease the salary from future years. Does the AI do this? Or, am I getting an unfair advantage.
Also, sometimes when I click the renegotiate button the player asks for a lower overall pay than he already has. Granted he's asking for more in bonus up front but I find this kind of weird too.
Many times you can click the cap out button to make more salary room. Does the AI use the cap out feature?
I've noticed that my team is usually considered in the top 5 for rostor value. I have the top record for all teams over the full history. (150-57-1) Granted I've had some great draft choices. 2 RB's that have become stars. A QB who played solidly for 14 seasons. I've maintained my defense through a combination of draft choices and strategic free agent pickups.
So my question is does the computer negotiate with players by tweaking bonus and future year salaries or just take the default every time? If they always take the default then I feel I should too, in order to be a fair competition. If they do negotiate then why cant they build more competitive teams like I am able to? Shouldn't they be able to make it more difficult for my team to always be a top 5 rostor.
