First, I wanted to see if there are any other night owls that listen to this insane show. I work graveyard, and am bored 7 out of 8 hours I literally do nothing, so the show keeps me awake, even though it's a pretty stupid program.

Second, I wanted to see if anyone heard me on the show tonight If you did, did I sound like a dink?

What is it? I don't think I get anything at work except the BBC world news or whatever. Of course I live in the ass of the devil, so I probably can't pick up anything remotely interesting.

It's pretty much about anything wierd: Ghosts, aliens, conspiracy theories, time travel, etc.

It's just silly fun most of the time, but it keeps me awake.

My call tonight was during the open lines portion of the show. I called in response to the wack-job guest that was on for the first two hours. He was basically telling people to get off their psych meds because they are "killing" them (for various crazy reasons), and start doing natural things. The host didn't even say anything about checking with your doctor before doing anything dramatic, so I called in. It took me about a half hour to get through to the screener, but once I got on, I told Noory (the host) that there are a lot of sick people out there listening who could simply go off of their meds because of the guest's theories, which could lead to tragic things. I also discussed my bipolar disorder, and how meds have pretty much saved my life.

I'll have to search for that next time I get a chance, sounds like it would be fun to listen to- I'll take any chance I can get to listen to a bunch of conspiracy theorists and crazy people do what they do best.

I love listening to this if I'm up late (something I no longer do with any regularity). Makes you feel nice and sane.

(I think we already had a thread for Coast to Coast)

I used to listen when I was driving back and forth to Columbia when my wife still went to Mizzou. Fun entertainment and putting it on at the hour of the day they did brought some crazies out of the woodwork.

That show is the single best thing on the radio. It's also the only thing I miss about midnight shift. Well, that and sleeping at work.

I started listening to it way back in 95 or 96. Found it completely by accident on the radio one night. I enjoyed it much better when Art Bell was doing the show.

I like how it's a 'open forum' and people are allowed to discuss pretty much whatever they want. Unless the format of the show has changed, it isn't to prove or disprove anything. Though, there are times when he does have guests from the scientific world come on like Dr. Michio Kaku and Zahi Hawass, which makes for some good listening.

John Titor are you out there???

Is it true that the host now is a fillin? Because the old host married some chick and moved to the Philippines to search for Aliens?

bsak - actually I think he moved back after marrying a 21 y/o but ultimately retired from the show yet again.

Something like that, but not exactly. The current host, George Noory took over when Art Bell retired for the 2nd time which was because his wife died (Filipina). Within the year he hooked up with a much younger Filipina, moved to the Phillipines and after a number of months decided he wanted to come back on radio. He broadcasted from the Phillipines for a while and then decided to move back to the States with his new wife. I believe he is retiring again because he has a child on the way.

Just crazy stuff and yes I know too much, but that show is damn entertaining. It's the only show in the world that has me laughing hysterically at the callers and once in a blue moon you will get someone on there who is somewhat legit.

I love Michio Kaku. Occasionally (VERY occasionally) there are legit guests like him that are a fascinating listen. I also enjoy the world's most colloquial jocular psychic, Sean David Morton. The "psychic" part is complete bunk, but he is well informed and has the "regular guy" shtick totally down pat, not something you typically get from your run-of-the-mill psychic frauds.

Yes, he is very good. I always watch when he is on the History Channel on all of those 'End of the World' shows they have on.

Haven't heard Sean David Morton in a long time.

And who can forget Mel's Hole?

Ahhh, yes! A classic.

I also remember one night they did time traveler open lines, just four hours of nutjobs claiming to be from the future. One guy called in absolutely frantic, saying he was from the future and being chased by government agents. He was screaming and out of breath, and naturally the call cuts off in the middle. There was some hilarious wild speculation on that one the rest of the night, if I recall...

Man, late 90s Coast-to-Coast was the best...

Oh shit! I remember that one! yup, that was classic. Or how about the guy that called Art Bell as he was flying over Area 51, gets all crazy and the phone call "mysteriously" cuts off? LOL, that was awesome Art was kinda freaked out.

Really entertaining show tonight. They've got this guy Dr. Bruce Goldberg on, and he is a complete wacko. I'd describe what he's talking about, but I can't figure anything out a singular theme, because he's jumping from topic to topic so fast. He sounds like he's on speed. Time travel, atlantis, black hawk helicopters in ancient Egypt, and on and on.....

Here's the "Dr."'s website:
