I am a one way motorway
I'm the one that drives away
then follows you back home
I am a street light shining
I'm a wild light blinding bright
burning off alone

it's times like these you learn to live again
it's times like these you give and give again
it's times like these you learn to love again
it's times like these time and time again

I am a new day rising
I'm a brand new sky
to hang the stars upon tonight
I am a little divided
do I stay or run away
and leave it all behind?

it's times like these you learn to live again
it's times like these you give and give again
it's times like these you learn to love again
it's times like these time and time again

Let it Die is my current favorite song - the second song on Echoes...the whole album is just fantastic - but that song - wow.

Aw yeah, guess who's back?
It's the motherfuckin' pussy with the little nutsack
Don't care about chedda
Or the paper chase
I'm a fuckin' grown man with zits on my face
A straight-up chickenshit
A pansy ass punk
If I'm guardin' your ass, it's an automatic slam dunk
While thugs are at the party
Bustin' all y'alls asses
I'm hidin' in the corner wonderin' where the fuck's my glasses
Can't afford no rims
My whip's a bucket
Fuckin' dick so small, no bitch can suck it
I don't drop nines
I got weak rhymes
Back at nine-deuce, I got pissed on ten times
I roll solo
I ain't got no crew
I say "Please don't hit me" more than a cow says "Moo"
Afraid of heights
I'm a-scared in the dark
I walk an extra three miles to avoid crazy fucks in the park
Denied by the Bloods
Turned down by the Crips
My fuckin' auntie kicked my ass, and she got two plastic hips
When I step into the club
Feel free to stare me down
'cause I just got re-elected the Mayor of Pussytown

That is NOT a rock song.

Hey now, don't make a sound
Say have you heard the news today
One flag was taken down
To raise another in its place

A heavy cross you bear
A stubborn heart remains unchanged
No home, no life, no love
No strangers singing in your name

Maybe the season
The colours change in the valley skies
Dear God I've sealed my fate
Running through hell, heaven can wait

Long road to ruin
Fear in your eyes
Under the cold street lights
No tomorrow, no dead end in sight

Let's say we take this town
No king or queen of any state
Get up to shove it down
Open the streets and raise the gates

Have no one walk too scared
I know I feel without a name
And I am out again
Before it's way too late

Maybe the season
The colours change in the valley skies
Oh, God I've sealed my fate
Running through hell, heaven can wait

Long road to ruin
Fear in your eyes
Under the cold street lights
No tomorrow, no dead end

Long road to ruin
Fear in your eyes
Under the cold street lights
No tomorrow, no dead end in sight

For every piece to fall in place
Forever gone without a trace
Your horizon takes its shape
No turning back, don't turn that page

Come now, I'm leaving here tonight
Come now, let's leave it all behind
Is that the price you pay?
Running through hell, heaven can wait

Yes. I'm going to see them in two months so I've been listening to them even more now.

I'm trying to get myself a couple of tickets for the show in Edmonton...definitely a can't miss show, IMHO.

When I talk about it
It carries on
Reasons only knew
When I talk about it
Aries or treasons
All renew

Big me to talk about it
I could stand to prove
If we can get around it
I know that it's true

When I talked about it
Carried on
Reasons only knew

But it's you I fell into

Well I talked about it
Put it on
Never was it true
But it's you I fell into

All my life I've searching for something
Something never comes never leads to nothing
Nothing satisfies but I'm getting close
closer to the prize at the end of the rope

When bangers hit the street
I stay home and watch TV
Slumped down on the couch so no one can see me
Unless I hear somebody
Knockin' on my door
Then you'll see me crawling 'cross the motherfuckin' floor
I been a fuckin' coward
Every day of my life
That's why I pretend I don't know everyone's bangin' my wife
I don't sit on the porch
I don't want no trouble
I'm more afraid of going out than the fuckin' boy in the bubble
When the shit goes down
I make a break so fast
Look like a motherfuckin' rocket goin' past
Lookin' for the sneakiest place to hide
Straight into the ladies room
Ain't got no pride
Slippin', slidin', runnin', hidin'
You know damn well it's a scooter I'm ridin'
Oh no! Here we go!
Out come the Glocks
I take off so fast, I pop out my socks
You gonna fuck with me?
I'll cry then run
I called the cops when I got shot with a fuckin' squirt gun

The Dallas show was fairly rocking as well.

Grohl is just so energetic. And funny. He harped on their triangle guy for a few minutes, and then got the guy to do a triangle solo... "You won't see this at a Rage Against the Machine concert!" :D

Their drummer had a kick-ass 5-minute drum solo too. Dave and their guitarist Chris had a guitar duel. The drummer also got everyone to do some voice sing-along thing.

The set was neat with four big monitors behind them, and a catwalk going forward to some circle thing. Half-way through the show, another stage lowered onto the circle thing and they did acoustic stuff on that smaller stage, which was close to where I sat.

Really really good show.

I've seen the foo fighters 4 or 5 times now, (a couple normal shows, and the acoustic tour), and Grohl is, IMO, one of the best front men in music. He just absolutely carries the show.

Echoes... is really a great CD. This thread inspired me to listen to it on the way to work today, and every song is good.

It is. The show started with Let It Die, which I freaking love.

I don't mind listening to the Foos in the car and stuff, and yeah, they can "rock" OK, but are their lyrics really worthy of being posted verbatim in a thread? Not really their strong point IMO. Not that they are bad or anything, just just aren't particularily, well... I don't know, note-worthy maybe?

Foo Fighters are only good if you can experience the music with the lyrics. On their own, the lyrics are meh at best.

Yeah, that's a better way of putting it.
