An offshoot of the other question, who would you rather be? A player with a championship ring, or no ring but in the Hall of Fame. I'm going to throw out the bottom feeder player. I'm also going to assume that no one wants to be Thurman Thomas over Barry Sanders (with nothing against Thomas). Here are the following players:
Terrell Davis
7,607 Rush Yards, 60 Rush TD's
1,280 Rec. Yards, 5 Rec. TD's
NFL MVP
Off. Player of the Year
Superbowl MVP
Pro Bowl (x3)
SUPERBOWL CHAMPION (x2)
Not in the NFL Hall of Fame
Barry Sanders
15,269 Rush Yards, 99 Rush TD's
2,921 Rec. Yards, 10 Rec. TD's
NFL MVP
Off. Player of the Year (x2)
NFL Rookie of the Year
Heisman Trophy
Pro Bowl (x10)
IN THE NFL HALL OF FAME
Thurman Thomas
12,074 Rush Yards, 65 Rush TD's
4,458 Rec. Yards, 23 Rec. TD's
NFL MVP
Offensive Player of the Year
Pro Bowl (x5)
Super Bowl Runner-up (x4)
IN THE NFL HALL OF FAME

I think this will just end up with the "HOF people" picking Barry Sanders and the "championship ring people" picking Davis. ;)

I went with Sanders, Davis, then Thomas, but its close between the last two, and for a reason not really talked about in the other thread: I suspect that Thomas is healthier than Davis, and better equipped to enjoy the rest of his life.

Why would I want to be Sanders and have to play in detoilet?
And I'm a recluse? Yeah, sign me up.

I suspect that Thomas is healthier than Davis, and better equipped to enjoy the rest of his life. That's a good point, actually. So yeah, with more parameters thrown in (money, after-sports health), the decission making can be slightly different.

I think a better comparison would be Barry Sanders and Tom Nowatzke.

I chose HOF in the first poll, but TD in this one.

I don't care...I'd be raining down $1K dollar bills at the strip club and assaulting the hoes, then I'd get in one of my $300K cars and drive drunk to another party where I'd be accused of raping some girl.:D

The problem with being Barry Sanders is that he was on such horrible teams. It's one thing to be the HOF player that loses a championship game, gets close a few times....but Barry, he never even got close. It sucked so much, he retired well before his time was up..
So yeah, if given the option, I think I would actually take Thurman Thomas over Barry Sanders. Doesn't sound like Sanders had a very fulfilling career that he enjoyed.
So I guess I go with the Davis one be default. :)

Hard to turn down the option of not only winning the big one, but also being a main part of the reason why.

TD was THE BEST THERE was for a brief period of time.
He had greatness and success.
Barry always had his detractors, and Thruman was never the best or the winner.
Im not so sure TD doesnt end up in the HoF on day either

If Terrell Davis gets into the Hall of Fame one day then go ahead and put in Joe Morris while your at it, he's just a step behind TD.
If two great seasons is enough for the Hall of Fame, then it becomes a joke.

I'd take the Championships over HoF
