For context, I'm wondering about this.

I dunno if rec leagues are higher then high school or not but I continued to play sports after high school.
I also had a scholarship to play soccer in college but was an idiot and didn't go to school.

I thought of this after the fact, but figured if I didn't put it, people would whine. I figured they'd be context for the people that put rec leagues, so I left them there.

I swam in college - school was NAIA for my first 2 years and DII my second 2. I stopped playing baseball after high school, but stopped playing seriously after little league.

High school was the highest I played, mainly because I never stuck with one sport too long. If I had a regret about high school, it was not taking football seriously. I only played 2 years, never really tried that hard at it, etc. The coaches kept telling me I'd be pretty good if I worked hard at it. My response was to stop playing after 2 years so I could go home after school and play video games, post on BBSs and talk to people on IRC more.
(Not that I would have been some major college star, but maybe instead I go to a DII or DIII school with a team.)

I consider HS Football a much higher level of competition and committment than any adult level rec league I ever participated in which always had relaxed practices and were never ultra competitive. Therefore, I put down HS level.

After we won the tee ball championship when I was 6, I retired out on top. I figure I could have had a hall of fame career, but eh.. I had the ring.

Whatever was the league after Babe Ruth league. Winterball or something. I went 0-10 with 10 Ks and was only used as a pinch-runner, so that's when I decided baseball wasn't for me.

Got a full ride(baseball) at a bad D1 school in Illinois...hint...Redbirds...
Blew out my pitching arm as a freshman while trying to pitch in both games of a double-header, had my scholarship yanked after one year...thanks coach...
Nowadays, I play rat hockey, slow-pitch softball, and drink...

Well, I'm in a recreational bowling league right now, and I am considering playing in a recreational Ultimate Frisbee league this summer, so it's rec leagues for me.

I have a few trophies from interborough baseball when I was a kid. Those thing were made with brass. Quality brass, too.

I'm not sure where to put collegiate fencing here, because on some campuses it's a club sport and some campuses it's a varsity sport, but in a lot of cases, the competitions overlap.

I ran cross country and track at a Division 1 school, but I wouldn't consider the conference I ran in to even be a mid-major conference (Mid-Con now Summit) so I selected the minor college conference option.

Up here high school sports, for the most part, are a joke. Instead, I played rep (traveling team) hockey until I was 17 and passed on playing junior "B" simply because of the commitment and the fact that it wouldn't lead to anything other than another couple of years of curfews and no life. Played rep baseball until I was about the same age and called it quits for similar reasons.

I played hockey and baseball in high school. I continued playing hockey for a few years after high school (roller hockey and ice hockey). I now just coach sports, and have been for a few years now. I miss playing, getting older sucks....:(

Played baseball and basketball in high school. My one big regret was not playing football despite coaches at all three high schools I attended asking me to join the team.
I played softball in a rec league with some co-workers two or three years ago, and I would love to join a 30+ basketball league, but I just don't have the time anymore. :(

I also played softball, both on a men's team and a coed team. It is incredible how serious people take a game of softball. You would think it was the friggin' world series or something. There was a guy on my team last year that paid over $400 for a softball bat. Then he struck out 3 times in the next game. Priceless. I told him he should get his money back. :D

I wasn't good enough athletically to make any high school sports teams (although I made the community baseball team because no one got cut, but I never got to play in a game and quit midway through the season when our team started a brawl), which totally sucked. I'd have loved to have played sports throughout my teens, but I could never make any of the teams for sports I like.
Since college I've gotten way more into sports though, because now you don't have to make the team, just pay to be on it. I'm still the worst player on my rec hockey team because my skating is the pits, but I've gotten good enough at spongee and ball hockey to be average now. I can also hold my own in low-level ultimate frisbee leagues.

I played at DT in practice, but only got in one game at the position. I was on special teams for eight games until my knee gave out on a block.

One year of DIII football, 1 reception, 1 fumble. . .good times.
Cycled domestically for about 7 years or so. Was a CATII which meant I rode with the pros, but I wasn't licensed as one (nor nearly as good as one).

Played football before and all through high school. Did baseball, wrestling, and track a season or two each over that time. Tried to set myself up to play college football by sending out tapes, and traveling to Chicago for a football camp hosted by college coaches the summer before my senior season. I had some small school interest (1-AA and lower), but that went away fast when I got injured my senior season and shortly decided school sucked and didn't go for over a month. :D

Played Soccer and Lacrosse through HS, lost both sports in the playoffs when we could have won states. Settled for my 4 Academic Bowl (Trivia) State Championships. Wanted to play lacrosse in college, but I was a year up in school and it's kind of hard to get recruited when you're 5'4 and haven't hit puberty your junior year.
I play Club Lacrosse now, so I put minor college. Most of our schedule is either D1 teams JV's, teams from schools with no varsity and Canadian schools (McGill etc.) that are nationally ranked up there, so the competition level is definitely equal to D2/D3/NAIA.

played soccer all the way through high school...had my lower leg shattered in the 6th game of my senior year, which pretty much ended my competitve career...my D1 college offered me a walkon tryout, but i didnt feel like putting in that much work to likely never get a chance to play.

My batting average was .142.
In hindsight, trying to model myself after Rafael Belliard might have been a mistake.

I had a grand batting average of about .200 my last year in Babe Ruth baseball. But I was 18 for 18 stealing bases. I'm still not entirely sure how I was on base 18 times. I must have stolen 2nd and 3rd a couple of times.
I guess I qualify for rec leagues because I played soccer and softball post-college? That air seems a little rarified for one of my limited skills.

In high school, I earned four letters in wrestling (All-State senior year), three for football (one season as state champs and another season where we blew an undefeated season in the state semis), three for baseball and one for being top six on the golf team during freshman year. I had a few options to wrestle at D-III schools in college, but chose to go to VT for academic reasons instead. Played a few years in competitive intramural leagues in college (flag football, basketball, softball).

But then you wouldn't have had the longest running sports show in the history of WBJB-FM. Plus you would've never had met me, which in turn means you never would've met your wife, but you would've probably avoided living in Cincinnati, which would've been a plus.

Although when I was a senior in High School I applied for the NBA Draft if that counts for anything....

I played for Hinckley United at youth team level for a year (regional level, after the cream has been picked off by the national clubs), but unfortunately when you check the FM stats for that level you realise how poor that really was! Fortunately I'm a realist, and quite appreciate why I could never have made it...

LOL, if he strikes out 3 times playing SP Softball he would be better off investing in a $12 Tennis Racket instead of a bat.

Dola, I never understood spending that much money on a bat, though I am always willing to borrow the bat of the guy that does. :)
