What if a game like MVP2005 for instance, having already lost the licence, simply release an "update/patch" to the game that gives us a bunch of new features minus real rosters/teams? The game could be edited much like OOTP or FOF. Now, from a financial standpoint MVP2005 might not be the best game to try this initially as only nerds like us would appreciate what is going on and spending the money...however, would this be a possible solution to "fight the system" and work around exclusive right deals?

In other words, instead of releasing a new game with nothing NFL/MLB or whatever, could it be possible to continually "update" the last legal game?

The main issue, I would think, is that there will be issues with updating rosters and player ability ratings, or whatever it is that the game uses.
