So I have been trying to get into the beta testing for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures for almost 6 months. I applied from 2 different emails and 2 differently specced computers, but still have yet to hear anything from the developers. They say that beta testing is ongoing and that they are choosing a few here, a few there. The original release date for this game was in 2006 I believe, but it has been pushed back at least 3 times now. I was excited thinking I could play it in March when it came out, but when I went to preorder it I saw that the release date was moved to May. I remember reading the Conan books as a kid and seeing the movie starring Arnold. This game looks incredibly awesome, I just hope the delays are because they are making sure to get things done right. Anyone have any thoughts on it?

For the record, I went and preordered it anyway. :D

Well everything I've heard lately has been negative, and it sounds like they are running extremely low on cash now and I can't imagine this not being botched all too hell.

It doesn't sound good though.

I like him, but I'm can't say I necessarily get excited about him...

I haven't heard good things either. I'm also not a fan of playing a single player game until level 20, then being allowed to play a MMO.

Wasn't thrilled with what I saw in Santa Monica last July, but in their defense the infrastructure for showing off MMO's was kind of lacking for the show as a whole.

Didn't see anything to suggest that it would supplant, let alone compete with, WoW.

Crush the enemy, have them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women.

His stuff with Colbert and Stewart lately has been entertaining strike fodder.

Yes Indeed.

I don't really mind that part of it I guess. What types of things have you heard so far?

Thank you for your responses. Nearly all of you have stated that you have heard bad things so far about the game. Can anyone elaborate on some of the points in regards to what they have heard? I preordered this game earlier this week, and I would like to know what I am getting if possible. It was damn expensive too. I know that the game has been postponed at least 3 times, and I am never sure if that is a good sign or a bad sign.

So what have you guys heard about it specifically?

And now, the pricing structure...

In a Funcom investor briefing, the company has spilled the pricing strategy for their MMO Age of Conan. United States gamers will pay $59.99 for the game and $14.99/month for the subscription. (Meanwhile, European gamers will pay 49.99 Euro and 12.99 Euro/month.) A quick skim through the briefing reveals some other interesting factoids, like that the game has already gone gold, Funcom expects 500,000-600,000 active subscribers at launch and internal surveys show that a "large proportion" of beta testers would like to buy it. Anyone out there considering cheating on their WoW account?

In all those screen shots I did not see one single female character. I think the M rating is for Mega-sausagefest. I was hoping M for animated Mammory glands.

Picked up Age of Conan today at Gamestop. Guess they broke the street date. Anyhow, installing right now and it says:

I really enjoyed the beta, and already pre-ordered. The only bad thing is that I got shafted on the early access. They really screwed up with that.

I was lucky enough to sign up my early access account before the cut off.
(pissing off most of your customers before the game is even launched: very impressive)

I have leveled up several toons to 10 or so to get a feel for which class I am going to play.
I haven't really settled on one yet.

So far I am liking it.
Kind of a cross between Guild Wars and LORTO.
